Avon Spirit ST
« on: May 08, 2017, 08:00:42 AM »
Ok so first off I've been an Avon man for best part of 7 years and probably around 140k miles now.

Started on the ST1100 and first CBR1100 with the Storm 2 then progressed to the Storm 3D XM on the first and second Birds.

Always been really happy with the combination of price, grip & longevity  so now Avon have brought out their latest evolution thought I would give them a whirl particularly as I'm not a big fan of the Bridgestones (the new rear  that was fitted when I bought her is wearing with a step on both sides(no I'm not squaring off the rear, what's a straight line!!!) causing the handling to start getting a touch skittish as you flick from side to side)

Anyways they're on order, just waiting for a call so I can go in and have them fitted, total price (inc fitting taking the bike in) £260 for the pair. (Yes I know I could have got the 3D XMs for around £145 plus fitting for the pair but...)

Watch this space :)

ta.

Mind you at least this is about a brand new tyre so I can pretty much guarantee that the Avon Spirit hasn't been discussed before :p

Well had these fitted yesterday (typical dry all day until the minute I got to the tyre shop).

Not scrubbed in yet but first impressions on my commute in this morning are good. Feel much less wooden that the Bridgestones which were fitted (new rear /used front) did and on a few sections of road that are slightly poorly surfaced felt much more planted without any of the "squimyness" that I was getting.
