New Red 2012..
« on: May 18, 2012, 09:56:36 AM »
Hello from Kawi noob in central Texas to all of you fellow Connie enthusiasts.

I am new here and new to Kawi and Concours bikes. Got my bike yesterday.
All of 11 miles on her this morning.
Been riding since  I was just a kid in 72, probably 50-70?? bikes later this is my first Kawi.
Have been wanting one of these since 08 when they came out. Traded off a FJR while in Tenn on a
US riding tour. I have been missing that bike and hope the Connie turns out to be as good
a bike as that one was.
Currently also have a HD Springer and a Road King (sons-see above "trade in") in the garage.
Comparing the Springer (ol school, 09 crossbones with upswept fishtales and a spring tractor seat,) and the Connie...hmmm, perhaps 65 big block vette vs 2012 ZR1 corvette. Both fun, barely comparable.
Thanks to you all and this forum for all the info, it has already been a great help to me.

Aw, what a let down. I thought I was going to see a pic of a new 2012 Connie and I get slapped in the face with a Harley.  :'(

Soon enough that HD will be relegated to the back of the garage and all but forgotten...

With a history of 50-70 bikes in 40 years, the bike will probably be sold soon.  With a 2 in 7 chance of being forgotten.  :)

Welcome to the forum, and hope you enjoy the C14 for the 6  months to a year that you will have it.

Now she has a few more mile ;Ds, what a nice machine..Need to go ride her on the twisted sisters this weekend...
Will take a bit getting used to not having stuff scraping on corners, nice and peacful, very quiet.

Looking at my original post today and the pic I can see why all the ribbing, it screams troll as a first post..
Anyway its good fun. imagine my poor wife watching all these diff toys flowing in and out of the garage.

Crazy, the comments about relegating to the back of the garage, yard needs mowed, keeping 6 months.
You guys could be channeling her, sounds EXACTLY like the ol lady!!!
Some of my riding buddies dont understand why I do not get attached to material things either, its just
the way I am, always something better /different out there (except for guns, I never part with them, even the crappy ones). I am getting older, maybe this will be "the one".

Anyhoo, I can see this is going to be a fun place.
Thanks for the welcome.. um, I think :chugbeer:.

Welcome, and I couldn't agree with you more about the guns comment.  I just wish I could own half of the weapons that have been intrusted to me over the years.

Enjoy your new bike!

I've only put 1000 miles on my Connie so far and I will tell you that all my other bikes feel different now.  I can't quite put my finger on it, but they do feel different.  I notice I am revving them a little higher than I used to.
