Title: Got bucked off my dual sport yesterday

Thankful for Hydrocodone!

While I was waiting on a friend, I spotted this deer checking me out.

pick of my shoulder.  could have been worse.

The ER diagnosis is: left AC joint separation, contusion left chest wall, and T1 clay shelver fracture. The ortho I saw this morning said no surgery but definitely physical therapy.

here is a pic of where it occurred. I was travelling from right to left. The opening in the tree line for the driveways gave me a false sense that the road continued straight. when I realized that the road curved to the right I tried to bleed off speed an started sliding. I knew that if I continued to try and make the corner that I risked hitting the tree. I decided to cross the grass and head for the driveway. I would have made it if not for the drainage ditch that was obscured by the crest of the grassy area. it was quite a ride. I prefer dirt over gravel because the small rocks provide little traction.

here is the xray.

I can return to riding when I deem it is safe to do so. Just getting out of the lazyboy takes my breathe away.

I was fully geared up. Could have been worse.

The doc said if I was 19 and a professional racer he might consider surgery.  The separation is a 2.5 out of 6 and since I am a young 51 he did not feel the benefit out weighed the risks.  My ribs are what is taking my breath away for now.

I shoulda looked closer, I thight it was broke!!  Our young lady had a clean break smack in the middle, screws and plates now reside inside her :(  The SF guy also seperated his shoulder, which he put back in place himself :o :o  Later that evening at 11,000 ft he is on some good meds, in a pair of shorts and sandals telling jokes.  Hard to eat at 11k, laughing, breathing and eating is impossible >:( ;)

Ouch! That hurts just looking at it.

I'm glad to hear that it wasn't worse.

2wheels,
Sorry to hear about your accident. I've had an AC separation, painful for a long time.
Hope you are able to get home okay.
