C10 taillight question
« on: May 26, 2011, 05:11:14 PM »
Can someone verify for me if both the taillight bulbs light up constantly or does just one run constant with the other one being just the brake light? I may need to replace one since only one is on all the time and the other only comes on when the brakes are applied. Thx

Taillight/Brakelight is made up up 2 1157 Dual Filament bulbs to which one element in each bulb is always light as the taillight and the other two filaments light up when you apply the brake. This gives you redundancy.

FYI, dont be smart like me and get the higher wattage bulbs that have the same base...cant recall the number for sure, but I think its a 2057.  Stick with the standard 1157s...
In any case, the bulbs I got were backwards.  Hit the brake and they go dim.  Release and they are bright...switched back and all was well.
Plus, having two bulbs back there makes it plenty bright!
Say what?
