New Rotors from China

Hopefully this link will work.  I bought these and wow, do they ever improve on the old ones on my 86.  All are 5mm.  I didn't put it on the rear but the three together were cheaper than just the front two.
The countersink for the screws to mount it was not quite wide enough for the heads to fit inside but there was enough head size to secure easily and not be a safety concern.  Really grippy once they are seated with the pads.  so much so, I made a mistake on a parkade down ramp to avoid a car.  Laid the bike bike down finally.  On the plus side, I have the highway pegs from  Murph and I always wondered if they would work like a tipover bar.  Glad to say  they do.  No damage to anything.  I think that if there was a fashion statement for rotors, these are it:)

Your link doesn't seem to work...shows that the item is no longer available.  I got my replacement rotors from China also.  I went with the 310mm petal rotors since I had upgraded to 4 pot calipers and had room for the larger rotors.  I've had no problems with them so far after about a year and a half.

Damn those are sharp.  I think a set of those might just have to go on the Spirit.
Can you post some pics of them mounted?

Looks great. Too bad the ones that fit my '05 are still stupidly expensive.

Same vendor on ebay just has them listed as GTR no ZG1000.

I think the rear on the 05 is still that same as it was on 86-93

The rear never changed 86 through 06 all the same.

What's the deal with stainless vs. steel for rotors?  EBC says 20% more stopping power over stainless, but galfers are stainless and they obviously don't suck.  Is that marketing hoopla or is there some truth to it?  I wouldn't want to lose the 20% increase in braking I just added with 320mm rotors and 4 piston calipers by using the wrong stuff.

Carbon Steel can have a courser more open grain pattern which will improve friction but will rust.... Stainless Steel will not rust but has a slightly more slick closed grain pattern has slightly lower friction. To which EBC uses Stainless Steel rotors and Galfer is known for their "Iron" rotors that when new have such sharp edges that they can and will cut you; these edges are hard on a pad but they do add a lot to the friction and thus grab much tighter.

Having put steel rotors on mine I would advise against it as they will rust and and put a light film of rust over the wheel, forks, calipers, fairing, etc. I have not noticed much of an improvement (if any) over stainless steel discs. I am soon to buy a set of the Chinese rotors. Note I have 4 piston Nissin calipers.

Do you have 320mm rotors? If so please post the link to the ones you buy and let us know how it worked out. I maybe in for a set too,320s that is.

I am not sure what the original rotors were made of, but these stainless ones are way grippier( is that a word).  I am happy with them

Did I read correctly that shipping, economy shipping is $60USD? $60? More than one third the total cost of the items? And made in China? Sorry, don't want to start an argument but I'll pass, even at that price.

Ah well, considering EBC wants 375 per rotor plus shipping, and these are all three for 220, well that's different math in my books.  don't knock china, they are buying all our coal and metals and adding value to it.

use them hard on a rainy day, and put the bike in a garage for a week. Tell us if they rust.
Stainless ain't always stainless, there are many grades, some work great for rotors, some don't. Some rust, and some don't....
oh, if they warp, $220 was a costly gamble. Not to say EBC would give you new ones if they warp, but I'd think you would have a better chance of it.

Well, my bike sits outside all the time, and gets wet with the sprinklers too, not to mention we have had our annual rainfall in the last two weeks and I can say no rust.  warp, well only time will tell.  I went through two sets of original rotors with warp so...  In all fairness though, even with maintenance every year on the calipers, I had the left one seize and hence the warp.
