Carrying Beer
« on: March 05, 2012, 10:08:44 AM »
I have been yearning for some Lancaster Brewing Co Rumspringa Golden Bock.  Can't find it anywhere here in VA so a buddy of mine and I are planning a ride to Lancaster (weather permitting) this Saturday.  It is about 3 hours going the shortest route which we will probably take coming home.  Anyway I am trying to figure out the best way to carry as much home as I can.  It actually comes in a can so that should make it easier.  My plan, if someone tells me it will work, is to have a case each in the sidebags, a case in the trunk, and a case strapped to the rear seat.  Has anyone done this and how well does it work.  Will the bags be to heavy with 2 12 packs in each one?

I don't drink but beer was the first thing hauled in mine before i even had a trunk. A case and chips on each side.

Well, maybe the first thing i hauled was her

And that same weekend at daytona GIVI fixed my trunk problem  :D

Steve I am guessing that if the 14 bags will hold that, then the C-10 bags should hold as much also.

You should be fine with a case in each bag. I only had a 12 pack in each bag.

I have done exactly as described with a C10. Even broke down an extra 12 pack and filled empty space with individual cans to carry even more.

I've done a case of cans in the bag of a C10.  Fits just fine, with room to spare.  Don't know if I'd go much over that, due to weight, though.

Whiskey takes up less room, and works faster. ;D

I can get whiskey around home.  Going to a brewery a few states over I can get good beer that I wouldn't get otherwise.  And it gives me an excuse for a long ride.

You rang?

B double e double r u n. Yeehaw.

One case cans, one 12 pack of glass per bag pretty well does in the weight limit. Although over limit on the rear rack, I've hauled a 12-er of glass on it. In theory, if you can mount 3-4 cases securely on the rear seat, go for it. It would be like a light passenger(pun?). There ya go, up to seven cases. Total weight will be less that 200lbs. Good 2 Go.

Maybe time to think about adding a trailer?

It's quite obvious from looking at the contents of your saddlebag that someone else doesn't drink Beer. ;D
