GASOLINE highway robery
« on: July 16, 2015, 06:21:53 PM »
Well when something looks to good to be true.   Well it is not.  I live in central Illinois. Bloomington area.  We recently had a new HyVee store open here.  To my surprise their gas station has alcohol free premium. It has been running about 30 cents more per gallon than regular. That is about normal for this area. I don't live very close to the store and it is not convenient for me  to buy gas. But being it was alky free I have been driving truck in and buying several jugs of fuel at a time.  Well tonight I ran in to purchase fuel.  They raise their prices big time.  71 cents per gallon more for the premium.  They lost a customer. I just sent an email to the company headquarters.  And for the record all other stations here has alcohol in the premium but when testing I see no difference in milage at all.  So in my opinion  HYVee SUX big time.

Big super store from Iowa.  same company that owns Casey stores from what I hear.  They opened up and Cub foods locked their doors.  They went in  where the original Walmart opened then K's Merchandise was at.  Wait a mionute I have a better description for you.  Across the road from where Fanny's Trolley was.  AH back in the good old days.

There's a HyVee up here in DeKalb, it's been there for 5 years or so. I've never bought fuel there though but they do have good doughnuts.  :)

Maybe this'll make you feel better....

Last time I gassed up :    1.40 per litre  -  that's 1.75 in US$   When you convert that to US Gallons, it's $6.62.

That's normal here...

Enjoy your (mostly) sub $5 gas.   ;D

For the first time in years, I've been paying less for diesel than gasoline in northern Mn.
$2.559 D2 (Mn bio blend).
Diesel has been the real money maker for the oil companies for several years.

This street bike thing is all new to me.
Snowmobiles-I have a bunch of those.

That would relieve us of supporting Chicago.

What's the tax load on fuel in Canada?

It varies from province to province, but here in Ontario, it's somewhere around 37%.

Yeah, it's a lot, but even before tax, with the exchange, we're paying $4 a gallon... >:(

I don't know why your gas should be so high.  Canada is one of our (US) biggest suppliers of petroleum.  Ya'll have a plethora (word of the day) of the stuff.  Your gas should be cheaper than ours.
