Title: New member with 2008 Concours 14 ....cancelled ..now C14. ABS2011.
Post by: Coffee_run on December 06, 2019, 02:34:44 AM
I've owned the last year 2006? ZX1000 Concours in California.  Back then I was timid to step up in power.
I'm getting what I think is a great deal ....2008 Con14 ABS with 20K miles for $4500.
?

Cancelled the 2008 C14 purchase. Bought 2011 C14......

Hi Coffee_run

Welcome!
Congrats on your new machine. If it's in great condition I would think that's a fair price. Does the ABS pump work? That can be costly.
Tires good?  Most have more miles by now so that's pretty low. There are lots of posts on what to look for in a used C14.
Have fun and soon you'll want more power!  Tune it!

Last minute decision return and new find. I purchased a 2011 C14 ABS with 43k miles. Dealer delivered today in cold rain. This machine was previously owned by a New Yorker and traded in for a new C14. So far Transponder Battery is low. I'll remove and insert new battery asap. Tires are new. A few scratches or scuffs.
$4,200 delivered.

Yes both of those keys plus Main Key 🔑
Just replaced CR2025 , 3V battery and now functioning as it should. No codes. Thanks .
This is generally how all FOBs function.....very similar to my Night Rod Special.

Yes both of those keys plus Main Key

You should familiarize yourself with the passive start procedure of both the smaller flat passive fob and the larger
battery fob (take the battery out) so that when you really need to you are familiar with the procedure.

This is generally how all FOBs function.....very similar to my Night Rod Special.

I have no special knowledge of a Night Rod Special but I've seen a few videos of Harley FOB replacement
and the C14 won't do that thing with this switch once and that switch twice etc etc...when you need a new fob
not only does the dealer (or a private party with the equipment) need to program the bike to the fob but, you need
to have at least one of your old fobs (either passive or active) or you are out of luck and $$$. What I'm trying to say
is that you can have all three keys, but if you don't have at least one already programmed fob, you're walkin'.

The C14 is getting long in the tooth so perhaps many (including you) already know these things by now, but sometimes when we get a new
ride we bring some old assumptions with us that may not be accurate.

Good luck and have fun with the new ride.
