Considering a Concours
« on: April 17, 2018, 11:28:59 AM »
Hello, I’m looking for a fun bike for day rides mostly on two lane highways, sometimes with a group of friends on cruisers. I don’t like cruisers.

I test rode a C14 and loved the ergonomics and power but the complexity of the bike worries me for servicing and I’m wondering if this bike is overkill for My needs?

Anyone have any input?

Welcome aboard!

It has the fewest electronics of any of the sport touring bikes. Probably fewer than most new sport bikes as well. That was one of the things that drew me to the Concours. The Concours is my third bike I currently own. I use it for a comfortable 2 hour ride to the mountains then a REALLY fun ride on the curvy mountain roads, and a comfortable 2 hour ride back home. The bags give me plenty of storage for day trips and would be more than I would need for a weekend trip as well.

My recommendation would be to buy one! If you are really worried about repairs, get the extended warranty. Ultimate Cycle has an awesome deal on the extended warranty for forum members.

Forgot to mention that your buddies on cruisers are going to have no chance of keeping up with you! ...and this is coming from someone who does like cruisers (my other two bikes - see signature below)

Thats one of my concerns, leaving them behind or being bored.

Well I picked up a leftover 17 today. This bike rips. Very smooth.

When you get to the twisties, have them let you lead. Tell them you will be waiting for them when the road straightens out!
