Is anybody here using this technique to mount or dismount the C14?
I saw it first on a Youtube video and this is a sort of controverted subject similar to "oil threads" on other boards, some people state they have been doing this for years and nothing happened but others think this will break or weaken the kick stand and one day will fall over. (I could not find any evidence on that)
I have short inseam (29) and mounting/dismounting the Connie is not a easier task (I don't think I need or want a lowering kit) and i haven't tried the footpeg mounting but I am sure if will be great help as long it doesn't affect the side stand.

My wife uses the footpeg to mount the bike before I do.
I then mount from the right side.
Found a right side mount much easier than a left and do it that way because of my short height/bad knee.

I've been using the left side foot peg to mount and dismount my 2011 Concours and almost every other bike I've owned for over 50 years and never had a problem with a failed side stand. I only weigh 200 lbs so perhaps that makes a difference.

Mount from the right side. Lean over the bike some so it doesn't come over toward you then step on the right foot peg. No extra load on the side stand.
Garage space is tight and I have to park the bike between two cars using a front wheel chock to keep the bike vertical. I don't have room to lean the bike over on the side stand... I always use this method to get on the bike in the garage as it's just a few inches away from the car on the left.

I do not do this but many others do and it seems to be successful. I have never heard of a damaged or broken kickstand on a C-14.
As Ted said, my wife also uses the passenger peg on the left to stand on while throwing a leg over the saddle (not over the back of the bike, there is a large top box there). This is after I am already on the bike and again, no problems on the bike since 2007 when it was new.
If that method works for you, I would not hesitate to do it continuously due to any concern with the bike. The only downside I can think of is driving the sidestand into the ground but I welded a pad (actually a 'Fred Flintstone foot') on my sidestand years ago and it never sinks into asphalt, sand, grass or anything I have parked on.

Yes. Sometimes. But I mostly face the right with my whole body and bend my right leg and go straight over the seat, then turn around. I NEVER swing my leg over the back like most people do. 1) I am not tall enough. 2) That WILL result in scuffing or scratching the right rear bag.
Note, I am unusually flexible. It seems most people can't do this (lift their leg straight that high).

Meh. I don't think it would hurt anything unless that person doing it is huge/overweight and/or violent about it :) I weight about 150, add maybe 10 pounds for gear?

I win. Mine is 27 or 28, depending on how one measures.

Mine is lowered. Without it lowered, it would be impossible for me to ride the C14 because I wouldn't ever be able to push it backwards. This is combined with a lowered seat and raised boots. If all the way in the front of the seat, with some effort, I can place most of both feet on the ground (not the heels, however).

Your having 1 to 2" longer legs on a stock bike/seat/boots means you might be about the same setup as mine is with the changes.

Thank you for the feedback guys, I need give this a try (both sides) and see how it goes besides I am not light weight as some of you. (260lbs)
I actually found this link about the subject but Paladino is doing it on a Harley which is heavier and with lower gravity center than our Connies.

You can pick the Connie up and pivot the bike on the stand. the stand doesn't care what you do, it's not going anywhere. As long as you haven't modified it poorly. The pegs will take anyone standing on them, as long as it hasn't been bent and then straightened. 8)
