I know a guy who is a dealer and can have it drop shipped to my house. I know another guy where I can buy only what I need (since I don't need a case).
What is your take?
-
No. I've had shifting issues with it. Went to Mobil 1 and they went away. Not scientific, but I'm not going back to it.
-
I've used Scamsoil in mine, and my ZX14, with no isuses.
mY c14 also likes rotella synth, mobile 1, MOTUL synth, etc
-
I use Valvoline 20/50 4 stroke motorcycle oil

I've heard of a few people with that same experience!

we need 27 pages of driveshaft failures in a thread. and we need 27 threads on how michelin tires are junk and won't turn (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/avatars/lol.gif)

Bob? Cap'n Bob? Is that you? I thought I recognized a pattern regarding the Amsoil. ;D

Amsoil works great for me. I've used it in several of my bikes and am pleased. No shifting issues observed. I'm 100% satisfied with it.
-
Have had Amsoil in it for the last oil change. Cannot justify the expense. Didn't notice any difference over any other oils I've used. Going with Rotella this time around. Seemed to get alot of positive reviews on the old website.
-
Amsoil is a scam. Anyone that gets sucked into the Amway type multi level marketing hype falls for it. Not me. Do some research on the internet and learn about oil. Oil threads are the spam of internet forums. It's kind of like, how do you kiss a girl? You kiss her like whatever leads to kissing the main attraction.
-
I've looked at the stuff repeatedly, read the literature, can't find anything so wunderful about it to justify the price.
-
Well, I think that answers all I needed to know guys! It's expensive and may not be worth it.
I was wondering because of the supposedly long time you can leave it in the engine (not sure I would trust any oil to go 20k+ miles).
-
Overpriced......overhyped........junk.......snakeoil!!!!! AKA SCAMSOIL!
-
I wanted to start an "old" oil thread from the previous forum. You remember the one "HELP dealer released bike with no oil" thread. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it in the all powerful googe. Too bad to, that one was epic. :D
BTW I don't use amsoil.
-
I don't think it's snake oil. I think it's a good high quality synthetic. But I don't think it's better than other good quality synthetic oils out there and therefore a bit overpriced.
-
The previous owner used Amsoil in my '08, at the 10K oil change, I used Kawasaki full synthetic, the average mileage improved from 42mpg on a previous trip, to 46mpg on my last trip. Coincidence? Could be the bike is just now fully broken in, but I'll use Kawasaki synthetic at the next oil change.
-
I tried it once in my injected outboard. I would usually just top it off after every trip to the lake (three-four times a week). A year later I noticed it had 2 inches of congealed oil in the bottom of the 3 gallon tank. I went back to the factory RAM synthetic after that and have never considered Amsoil again for anything.
