Up from the ashes
« on: October 07, 2011, 03:23:18 PM »
Well not really ashes but from what we shall call the "incident". I looked over the plastics and started formulating ideas and plans for repairs and decided screw it. It was time to make some changes. Some planned, some not. results as shown.

Trimmed plastics to expose the fine looking Concours powerplant.
Relocated the coolant tank to under the seat
Replaced the damaged radiator (from previous owner)
Replaced the damaged mirror (from previous owner)
Made a new "taller" short windshield
Bobbed the rear fender
Plus anything else I am forgetting

I am really pleased with the results.

Very sharp, clean trimmed look! One question, on your driving lamps, they appear to be 'stacked', isn't that hampering the travel of the forks?
From your pic it just looks like they will get sandwiched if you hit a decent rise or bump at speed..

I'd like to see a better shot of the bobbed fender.  Maybe a brief write-up on how you did it too.

It's in the FAQ.

Ditto on the aux lights location. On top of crushing the lights and damaging the fender it could act like an additional brake and lock up the front tire. Check the FAQs and my album for alternative mounting locations.

Oh boy, those lights are just asking for some major trouble. I would get those out of there right away.
Other wise it does look pretty good.

I never had a problem with the lights. However I did go with LED driving lights to neaten up the look. I will post more pics next week. Thanks for the compliments!

I don't particularly care for the look of the cut down fairing, but these bikes look SO much better with the rear fender bobbed.  Although I have found that people don't like to follow me as much if the weather is wet...   ;D

I THINK I saw a red one done similarly a few days ago. I wouldn't have noticed except for this thread. Still looks good.
