28 degrees this morning and totally dry, checked 5 different weather sources and they all show dry, good day to put on the heated gear and ride into work. :)
I get half way to work and it starts snowing... :o >:(
Roads were dry and temp was cold so it starts sticking to the roads, within the next couple minutes the roads are white, plus the snow that is breaking down from the cars driving on it is making ice right away because it's so cold... :-\
Turned around and headed back home, not a fun ride back to the house at all, and crazy scary getting back up the hill in my neighborhood, I thought I might have to just leave her down at the bottom of the hill which I did not want to do. Finally made it though bogging down 2nd gear, feet dragging, and a couple spins of the tire...
Take off all my gear and jump in the truck and head back off to work. :(
Looking back on it I'm very glad I made it home without going over, could have been alot worse... :)
Stupid weathermen... (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/mad.gif)

...and think of the clean up time on that beautiful black machine!
Glad you made it back safe and sound, from one comiserating black C14 owner to another.

Glad you made it back home safe and sound J! 10 degrees with snow/ice covered roads here this morn. Needless to say, the bike is home in the garage.
Were you sweating it a bit?

Yep, big time C! Oh wait, maybe that was from the Gerbings heated gear... ;) ;D

In the 80's Its warmer here, you're welcome to borrow my heated gear :D

I learned, living in the Denver Metro, what is projected in Denver don't mean squat where I live and visa-verse.
I rode into work on my Wing, what was supposed to be a nice clear morning... turned into a hail fest at my exit... ice forming on the shield... then snizzle starts falling... I pull into the parking lot... trying not to dump the beast. Put the cover on, and walked up to the building.
I was lucky that it was just a morning winter storm that passed thru where I work.

Glad you didn't drop her again. Now if you had one of our ahem... slower bikes with traction control and ABS you wouldn't have blinked an eye. The weathermen don't get it right around here either. Mine stays in hibernation waiting for the farkles that I got from Australia.
Cheers Jay :chugbeer:

Maybe I'm a wuss, but I never ride if the temp is going to be near or below 32 F (0 C). Too much chance of ice on the roads. If I can't lean it without worry, there's no enjoyment in the ride. It's not the cold. I ride down to 35 all the time and I don't need heated grips or clothing. Just don't like thought of ice on the road.
-
Glad you are ok. At my job, if I make a mistake, someone may die, weather folks have a thankless job, but I wish I could be that wrong that many times and still have a job.

ZG, what neighborhood do you live in.
I lived in Damascus, and Sunnyside area of Clackamas.
High school was Sam Barlow.

:'( Ouch. Good one. If you read closely though you see it's not the cold I mind, don't need no steenking heated crap, it's the ice.

Probably. You're not a skier are you? I'd guess not because heated clothing is too heavy to use for skiing, not to mention the battery. Well, next spring then, since I won't see you on the mountain.

I don't use any heated clothing, yet...
I am a skier (water and snow) though, such as it is in Illinois. I do get up to Wisconsin from time to time, Devil's Head and Cascade Mountain. Most of the time (when there's snow, not enough this year yet) we get out on our snowmobiles and tear it up.

Average temps since last Wednesday around 24 at 630. Been training SF Soldiers on basic and intermediate dirt bike riding. I wish YZs had a battery and heated grips:-) Must say frozen sand has loads of traction and that snow covered puddles do not. Moving along in the 20s at 30+ and the face gets nippy quick, hands are soon to follow. Once warmed up its time for a brief brief to keep the sweat from freezing. Lunch at noon, full belly, sweat wet gear, sun on the wrong side of the fog, new class. I reckon if I had a black bike I'd park it as well ;)

Park it? There is no way I could leave this black beauty in the garage all day. 28 when I had a slight slide out across the overpass this morning.
