Not sure what the difference between turbocharging and supercharging. I guess I am not current on boost terminalogy. The jet ski is where I got the the idea from. That is the type of boost I think they will be adding to the 1.4 litre motorcycle engine. The jet ski uses an Eaton intercooled Roots type supercharger with a claimed continous boost. Depending on the boost pressure they get horsepower measurements of 260 or 300 out of their approximate 1.5 litre straight 4 jetski engine.

Looks like the ad has gone private and is not currently available.

Post by: Kazairl on September 03, 2011, 02:42:37 PM: Turbochargers are a type of Super charger. They are driven by the exhaust gases exiting the engine. When most people use the term Supercharger, they are referring to a mechanically driven one like a roots type or centrifugal blower.

There will never be a production bike fast enough. Fortunately there is competition so bikes get faster every year ;D

Actually its the dealers show where the "new" 2012 products will be revealed. This happened to me in '05, and the all new 2006 ZX14 was announced in October and I had to wait till April '06 to get the 2nd one delivered to Tampa.

whoaaaa did they really put an "R" behind ZX14...now THATS a teaser. Can they back it up by making it a track weapon or is the "R" simply going to be a crackerjack box decal to attract the squids and teens?

A similar configuration with an intercooler is in a Kawasaki watercraft and produces about 300 HP. They predicted 250 HP on the bike without the intercooler. That's just plain nuts.
