foot peg lowering
« on: March 25, 2012, 02:46:03 PM »
Installed the footpeg lowering brackets. Has anyone made modifications to the shifter arm to make more clearance between the peg and shifter? I have small feet and still find it awkward.

TIA,

What lowering brackets did you use?  KneeSavers or GenMar?

It's been awhile and I didn't modify the lever itself but you can adjust the height of the lever.  For even more clearance I removed the nut that is on the adjustment screw.  That was a few years ago and know I don't even think about it.

Removing the nut is for the brake lever, though.  Don't do it on the shift lever.

Yoman, are you looking to make the shifter itself longer or shorter?  I can't think of anyone that has done that.  If you're just looking to adjust the height of it, there are two lock nuts to loosen, then you turn the shaft that connects the shifter arm to the engine.  One side of that shaft is reverse threaded, so the lock nuts loosen in opposite directions.  (Well, actually the 'same' direction.  If you pushed the wrench down to loosen on one end, you'll push it down to loosen the other end, too. - Or vice versa.)
