Personally I like V'Jim's previous avatar, it had the sword raised ready to strike down and end any post/thread that crossed the line.
Maybe he tired of holding it up?
Perhaps we should start being more unruly so he can lower it more often and let his arm get some rest?
-
I voted yes. I now have a pet dragon. I don't need to swing the sword (might be an easy boys in there somewhere) that much. I'll just unleash the dragon. ;) Oh, I also like the helmet better. An avatar I truly loved was Pokey's Joker. I miss Pokey and his attitude.
-
I like it Jim likes it. I don't think we get a vote. What do you think this is, a democracy?
-
What do you think this is, a democracy?
Nah, never thought that. :)
I'm not sure what kind of a mess we'd have here if it was. ;D
I just wanted Jim to notice that we noticed, however I did like the old one better. It was more threatening.
The new one looks like he got dressed up and stood next to a stuffed dragon, and as soon as he moves off, a family of five in shorts and flip flops will move in to get their photo op.
(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ZWEAAOSwqfZaUk2s/s-l300.jpg) New
vs.
(https://laicismo.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/las-cruzadas.jpg) Old.
The new one also looks as though either the dragon or the Templar peed himself, what is that stuff down there supposed to be?
-
Not that it matters much, but I like the old one more betterer.
-
The Black Knight always triumphs.

Rhino, that doesn't seem like you, does V'Jim have you on double secret probation or some other such that the rest of us are unaware of?

Now THAT is funny!!!
First thing that crossed my mind when I saw this thread... two pages of posts about an avatar, must be a slow news day!

My thoughts exactly...
:thumbdown The new helmet doesn't look as aerodynamic as the old one.
True, but I can stick food on the spikes.

Still time to get your vote in, voting closes tomorrow morning. C'mon now let's get out the vote!

Not me. Don't ice skate, don't roller skate, don't ski (ice/snow/water), just ride.

Not me, I just ask the questions.
Other folks come up with the goofy answers...e.g. "...I can stick food on the spikes."

Sorry about :offtopic: But, Jim, do you miss the C14 at all? I'm getting older and my leaning into the twisties with my hair on fire days are somewhat behind me. Thinking a really nice modern cruiser with decent power and a low seat might be in my future.
-
Oh no.... it is like a virus!

Yup, getting old is like a virus with no cure and always fatal!

Rhino, just put on some Helibar Horizons and enjoy the comfort! Like riding a bicycle...
...a bicycle with two Acme rockets attached to it!

Keep the C14 and pick up a cruiser. It is nice to have options when you go to the garage for a ride. Jump on whichever one you are in the mood for that day. If you get rid of the C14, you will miss it. No cruiser out there is going to have the performance and handling you are use to. The C14, although a comfortable ride, is no Lazy boy recliner like a cruiser is. Having the Concours and a cruiser gives you the best of both worlds. It’s good to have options!

If he tilts his head forward thusly, that helmet can snag a variety of food mid-air such as deer bounding across the road, low flying geese, the occasional salmon in a flooded road, etc. Not goofy at all, but ingenious survivalist gear. And the Indian being a slow moving bike, the chainmail is adequate protection. ;D

sanmo, at the risk of being lumped into the group of others that seem to enjoy verbally sparring with you, I have to ask. Don't you see the dichotomy (<--my big word of the day, and yes I did have to look it up just before I typed it just to make sure I am using it and spelling it correctly) in the highlighted statements?
Regardless, I see it, and that was the basis of my earlier remark. That and the way he said he can "stick food on the spikes" as though like shish kebab, where most would say "catch food (headkill?) on the spikes".
I do agree with you about the chainmail. At those speeds D30 would be overkill (not to be confused with headkill).
-
Grrrr........j/k. All verbal jousting is in good fun, w/o malice. I do miss the pro-gun firing squad though. :)
I suppose that given the speed handicap on the Indian, V'Jim's helmet-assisted food opportunities are feasible only if they are coming towards him rather than if he is chasing them. I will defer to your judgement on this matter. ;D
-
That would be pro Constitution. 8)

Same with some of the pictorial jousting. ;)

But ominous silence from V'Jim. He may be honing his broadsword. Nice knowing ya, f.marty!

Not really, I don't. However, when I do take it out, I always say that it's an amazing bike but I love the Indian Roadmaster so much more. I like the seating position. I love the noise it makes. I love the heated grips and seat. I love the cruise control. I don't need to run at high speeds all the time anymore. It's perfect for me and the wife loves it. What's not to like?

The Indian is not a slow moving bike. It has great acceleration. For instance, on my weekly run to Dunkin there is a 45mph half mile hill I have to pull. The Indian is up to 60 in no time at all in 4th and I have to remember to not do that when anyone is looking. These bikes are deceiving in that you think they are slow based on how they look. They really aren't. I don't have any issues passing anyone even riding two up (weight of the bike and riders and gear can easily hit 3/4 of a ton). High speed on corners, not so much. Indian dealers have demo days several times a year. Try one out. In fact, I'm helping out tomorrow at our local demo days tomorrow. I'm not the only C14 that's made the switch. Truth be told, it's usually riders of the older set that are buying the big bikes, but then look at our demographic.
Marty, I really like that pic with the Indian. Where did you get it?

I have demo'd the Indian and it is a good bike for a v-twin cruiser. Definite improvement in performance and looks over the Victory line. You do know that we are just pulling your leg about the Indian being slow. :)

Yes, I know...and just know that I'm kidding when I ban you.... ::) ;) :rotflmao: All in good fun of course.

Everything is relative. Any reasonable displacement, modern motorcycle is "fast", when compared to most cars on the road. And for Jim, what he has might be plenty fast or "fast enough."
Now, compared to a C14, a Roadmaster is not fast....
Stock C14, 0-60 2.9 seconds, 1/4 mile 10.56 seconds (no flash or anything else... stock)
Stock Indian Roadmaster, 0-60 4.7 seconds, 1/4 mile 13.6 seconds
There is only so much you can do with an unfared, nearly 930+ pound bike, having only 2 air-cooled cylinders (!!), even despite the huge 1.8 liter displacement.
And how about my reasonably fast car?
Stock G37S, 0-60 5.0 seconds, 1/4 mile 13.5 seconds
-
That's good :-X

I have an electric windshield, heated seats, heated grips, ABS (non linked) and horrors upon horrors...................cruise control that works very very well. How many of you on C14s have factory cruise control? Wait a minute! That's right...........0. :rotflmao: I just test rode a Roadmaster with the 116 engine mod...Wow!

Welcome back. However keeping on topic, your avatar is somewhat annoying. You know things were a lot more peaceful around here when you had the old one with the sword held on high. Could be related, could be. ;)
You know, I think that you are right. I've been toying with the idea of getting an Angel sword covered with flames. I'll see what I can come up with.
This will have to do for now.. (http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=31869;type=avatar)
In light of recent forum uplifting and fortunate events (see quotes above), I suggest this thread be locked at this point since most of it pertains to earlier events and is no longer current and could be misconstrued.

Jim,
What's with that yellow stuff flying above your head?
Looks a little like when the cartoon characters get hit over the head and see stars.
???

Fire dancing along the sword. Stings more (to the choppe) when I chop off a head. They also don't bleed as much so not as much cleanup.
