Title: Max's next bike
Post by: Conniesaki on November 02, 2018, 12:58:10 PM
No, seriously: https://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/bikes/adventure/tiger-1200/tiger-1200-xrx-low-2018 (https://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/bikes/adventure/tiger-1200/tiger-1200-xrx-low-2018)

"The new road-loving Tiger 1200 XRX Low Ride Height (LRH) model is a more accessible version of this easy-handling bike, and is perfect for touring the world’s highways. The XRX LRH model comes with all of the XRX’s leading features plus an accessible 32 inch seat height, which is one inch lower than the standard Tiger XRX, and has an additional adjustable seat set-up which offers another .75 inch reduction to take the lowest seat height setting to 31.25 inches."

31.25 inches is considered a low seat height?

Why do almost all adventure turing bikes have a beak. It is like the designers model them all after birds. I saw one a couple years ago, can’t remember what brand it was, but it was yellow and looked just like sesame street’s Big Bird from the front.

Are the “beaks” somehow functual? If so, what do they do. I thought maybe they act as a front fender, but the front wheel already has a fender.

Ive always liked the idea of the adventure touring bikes. Just can’t get past the look of the beak that most of them have.

How about downforce at high speeds?
Or maybe the bike is a transformer?
Kinda looks like a praying mantis...

It's the Backup Fender ... catches all the mud that makes it past the Primary Fender. You can never have too many layers of fenders.

OK, OK, I completely agree that these adventure bike beaks are silly looking, with some downright ridiculous. I'm looking at you, Ducati Multistrada, with your two beaks ... oh, I guess it's that layered thing too: One is the Primary Beak, and the other is the Backup Beak. I'm not sure which is which, but hey you have two so you got that goin' for ya.

I do think the Triumph Tiger's beak is probably the best looking ... the most tolerable ... I've seen. Wait, a Tiger ... with a beak? So weird.

To beak or not to beak? That is the question.

And what's going on here? Spy vs Spy? Heckle and Jeckle? (I realize it's not an Adventure Bike)

The beak (or beaks) is in the eye of the beholder  ;)

And what's wrong with Heckle and Jeckle or Spy vs Spy?  ;)   I still use the Heckle and Jeckle one...still fits.

Nothing wrong with either, but if you know who or what they are, then.....
:rotflmao:  Man are you old....

....as for bike beaks...was it started by Suzuki's BIG DR's in 1988?..and then came the BMW1100RS in the 90s?...or is it older then that?

Ahh, so we can blame this long term unsightly trend on Suzuki. DAMN you, Suzuki!

SsHHHHHHH.... :-X

It makes for a better thread this way. I mean, do you really want to know what max' wants in a bike? Didn't think so, me neither.
Probably want's one with a super beak or something else silly and short.

I like the Tiger, but after riding the new GS, I think I may go that route.

31.25 inches is considered a low seat height?

Missed this thread.

Yeah, that isn't very low.  I have the C14 lower than that and still have to use raised boots.  In any case, it isn't a sport touring bike, no shaft, no real wind protection, minimal storage, etc, (Spoke wheels???  This is more like a dual-sport) so it doesn't matter how low it might be, not interested.

ps Why isn't Max replying to this thread? The entire thread is about him.

Because I don't typically follow the forums not related to the C14:)
