Lower plastics
« on: September 01, 2019, 01:40:45 PM »
Can someone remind me how to get the plastic fastener apart that holds the three lower pieces together?
I’m referring to the black lower ones right in front.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, push in on the little pin in the center.

Thanks but it’s not one of those. The head is about 1/2” in diameter. Anyway I figured out a way around it so it’s staying there. 😀

Thanks again.

There's a slot for a small flat blade screwdriver, Just pry it out a little & then it just pops out  :chugbeer:

Yep.  I always wondered why they did that.  I think it is the *ONLY* one of that type on the entire bike.  Perhaps it was just too much gap and stress for the "standard" plastic rivet.

Flat head screwdriver works but after a few time removing them with a screw driver, they tend to get chewed up. They actually make a removal tool for them that you can pick up for $10-$20 if you have plastic rivets you will be removing a lot. My ATV’s use them for everything, so it was definitely worth it for me.

Actually there aren't a lot of those cheap plastic fasteners on the Indian Roadmaster.  I'm getting it more for my Toyotas.

Sears
sells 'em....well this week they're still in business I think.

...so does Harbor Freight, only cheaper without the name Craftsman on the pivot point.

Thanks again for all the great responses. I kind of figured I could pry it out but didn’t want to break it. Just changing the coolant so I didn’t really need to remove those plastics.
