Rolex Historic Car Races at Laguna Seca
« on: September 20, 2011, 07:34:03 PM »
I went with a friend of mine to the historic car races at Laguna Seca last month.
It was a 1010 mile trip over 5 days.  It started in Temecula CA (southern CA) up
to the Salinas/Monterey area.  Our first stop was Morro bay which is the beginning
of the best part of the southern end of Hwy 1.

This is Eric.  We've been close friends since high school.  We used to go out to Riverside International Raceway to watch
the Trans Am cars in the early 70's.  Lots of time spent watching Parnelli Jones drive like a mad man.  One of his cars was
to be at Laguna Seca that weekend.

I stopped to change batteries in my camera.  This is what I saw off the side of the road.

Big disappointment seeing this sign.  No where near far enough away.

No traffic, 70 degrees or so.  We would pull over and let people pass even if it was only one car.  Just too beautiful too hurry.
I've driven this road many times before and always hurried and cussed the traffic.  Eric set the pace of the trip right from the
beginning ....S L O W!  I'll be forever grateful that he didn't let me speed the adventure away.
