I did the same thing, but I got a lot of terminator flak for it. Your install probably looks a lot cleaner than mine especially after I updated it.

I purchased a shelf that mounts above the instrument cluster and right in the center of the bike. Purchased the shelf from Kawasaki Police. It is mounted high enough that I never take my vision off of my path of travel and it doesn't obscure my vision.
Interesting.  I just bought a re-furb'ed Zumo 390 and was thinking I might put it on the clutch-side, but haven't mounted it yet.  I may need to take a look at that shelf.

However, from a quick search I'm not finding the Kawasaki Police shelf -- is there a special website I should look at?

Unfortunately, I don't think they are made any more. I think they stopped making them when Kawasaki stopped authorizing them to make Police bikes.
None of the old links to web pages or FB pages work anymore. Here is a link to the other site with some (little useful anymore): http://forum.cog-online.org/accessories-c14/gps-shelf/msg244858/#msg244858

However, I think they morphed into this company --->: http://www.zeropolice.com/
They may have some C14 dash shelfs sitting around they'd like to get rid of. (208) 691-4277

They were kind of proud of them ($85 + $15 shipping). You might do better to make your own, just buy some well nuts from Murph's or somebody and look at mine. The lateral supports were made by me. The shelf they were selling was just a flat piece of powder coated steel with three bent tabs that you drill holes in the plastic under the windshield and mount with well nuts. Not
really worth it, but I didn't know that until it showed up.

Good Luck

Got the forks installed and the bike put mostly back together.  Messed around with the throttle play.  Will take it on the road tomorrow and see how it runs.

I'm in central AR also, where are you?

I host a COG event at my place in April, normally riders from about a dozen states in attendance. I'll have to get a link posted on this site. Until then all the info is on the other site, Horseshoe Mountain Rendezvous #5. Four day camping event, you should look at trying to make it or anyone else here for that matter.

We should meet up & ride sometime!

Wow, just saw this post. I live just north of Little Rock, not far from LRAFB.

With 4" - 5" of the white stuff filling the air, I looked at my bike and noticed that the oil drain plug was leaking...

I didn't get to post this till today, but this past Saturday I washed the bike and met up with a fellow Connie owner (he has a 2008 model with 200,000 on the clock) and did some great riding on the back roads of central Arkansas.

It was the first time I'd seen two Connies, side-by-side. It's a relatively uncommon bike in Mississippi, where I bought mine and his is the only other Connie I've ever seen "in the flesh" (uh...I think there's an "Easy Boys!") in there.  :o

Reinstalled the battery after her long winter's nap and took her for a long ride.

Last Fall when changing the oil, before putting my bike up for her nap, I switched from using Mobil 1 10W-40 4T (I've used this oil since the second oil change) to Castrol 4T 10W-40. I like the Castrol better. Shifts feel smoother now. I'll be sticking with this oil from now on. Plus it's less expensive than Mobil.  :)

Got some new brackets for lights to get installed down by the front fender (courtesy of Shredran on the other forum).
The lights came a few days ago from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MDJK1AJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hope to get them installed tomorrow, but more than likely, not for another 2 weeks (vacation upcoming).

Oh goodie! Time for another oil thread!  :)

Seriously, I'm due for an oil change as well. Gonna take a look at some of those threads.

Just my opinion based on a two hour ride. Shifts felt much smoother, especially downshifts. Not a huge difference but better.

How long had it been since your last change? For me, it's been too long time-wise. Not so much miles-wise.

Work and moving and the honey-do list have kept me MORE THAN OCCUPIED.  :banghead: That's changing, effective now.

As I said in the post that you quoted above, I changed the oil last Fall just before I put my bike up for the winter months. I think that was sometime in November.

I installed the LED headlights  and running lights (2 small bulbs between the headlights) that I bought from Robocop. I’ll get some pics tonight after it gets dark. Right now, I’m headed out for a ride. It’s sunny and 65 degrees.
