Title: Zumo 595 Mounting options
Post by: banditrider on November 11, 2018, 11:03:38 PM
Hi all,

My old Zumo 550 is dying :(

I'm looking at either the 595 or 396 as an option but would be interested in seeing other people's mounting systems.

I currently have my Zumo front and center on a Projekt D bracket which is fantastic.

I'm concerned that the new units are a fair bit wider.  I've scratched my head and reckon I could modify the current mount by spacing it out more or perhaps modifying it a bit more radically...

Anyway, I'd appreciate some pictures please :)

I used the Kawasaki GPS mounting bracket to mount my Garmin 595. Here is a picture.

Thanks.  Maybe I'll get away with my current mount, perhaps with some longer bolts and spacers.  That extra width is what I'm worried about.

If you do end up needing the Kawasaki mount, shop around on the different OEM part sites, cheapcycleparts, partzilla, etc as well as Amazon and eBay. You will find it cheaper than the MSRP on the link I posted above.

Thanks again.

Now I'm tossing up again on whether to get the 595 or the 396...Very similar features with the 595 having a better display and a $400 difference here.  Tempted to save the $400 as I will need to buy a 2nd cradle for my S10...

I have my old Zumo 220 mounted in the same location but with Murphs kits bar riser and RAM.

595 is on it's way, but...

...I'll be fitting it to my Tenere first as I have a trip planned on it.  There's another cradle on it's way (from the US - cheaper than local prices) for the Connie and when it gets here we'll see how it mounts up eh?

All fitted up after getting a 2nd cradle off E-Bay.  I did have to make up some spacers on the Projekt D mount due to the unusual shape of the cradle.  More info here: http://banditrider.blogspot.com/2018/12/zumo-install-2.html (http://banditrider.blogspot.com/2018/12/zumo-install-2.html)

@Poseidon: Is there enough room to add the Touratech Locking Mount to that set up?  I really like it sitting there but I don't care for having to leave it unsecured during a stop, nor the issue of having to remove it every time I need to stop.

I don’t have the Touratech lock. Based on the pictures I’ve seen of it online, it should work / fit with the Kawasaki mounting bracket. The only potential issue I see with it is that it appears the key lock will be right where the riser is. May not be able to get the key in and out of the lock. I can’t say for sure either way since I’ve never tried using one. Sorry.

That was my worry as well from looking at the pics.  I'm open to other lockable options as well if there are any out there.  Or just other ideas
