Ceramic coating a full dual Muzzys system
« on: May 08, 2014, 02:55:36 PM »

Hey gang,
So I recently scored another full Muzzys carbon fiber dual exhaust system. I decided to have the entire thing (minus the carbon fiber cans of course) ceramic coated all black, bolt's, clamps, the works...  8)

First challenge was getting the inlet's and outlet's off the carbon fiber cans, what a freakin pain...  :(

I spent about 6 or 7 beers on them with absolutely zero luck, they wouldn't even budge. So I took them down to my local shop for them to break em down, even they had no luck...  :'(

I called Muzzys and told them what I was wanting to do and that we were having no luck getting the inlet's and outlet's off the carbon cans, they said ship em to us and we'll do it for you, you pay shipping back as well, and they wouldn't even charge me for getting them apart. I guess they have some heat silicon on them to seal those spots that's a total bear to get them back apart.

They got em all apart and shipped back to me, sweet, thanks Muzzys, and for free!  :)

So now I have the entire system broken and ready to be ceramic coated, I just got home from dropping it all off at a local shop that does ceramic coating.

Now I just have to patiently wait, I hope to have it back maybe late next week...

FYI, once I get this system back and installed I'll most likely be selling the full Muzzys dual carbon fiber system that's currently on my bike, I bought it brand new and it's in excellent condition, not a mark/scratch/scuff on it.
So if you're interested in it let me know.  :chugbeer:

Kindof hard to scuff it up when you ride 15 miles home from the shop after paint, then another 15 miles back to the shop for it to sit waiting for paint for 3 weeks ;D

Nope, I'm never waiting for paint with the bike out of commission SGF, I've got multiple sets of bodywork, so when it's time to install the next set I'm only down for 1 day during install.  :) :chugbeer:

You do know which forum you're in, right (ZGGTR)?  The first thing that came to mind when I saw it was 'I wonder what color it will be?'.  That's the way we are with members we like...

I had a dream the other night--and no--I had not been drinking.

Anyway--there I was.  Warm and snuggly.  And then the dream began.

I was dreaming about what I want to be when I grow up.  You know--when I become a full-fledged Concours 14 pilot.  In my dream I grew up to be just like ZG.

And then the horror began.  :'(

  All the different colors.

All the trips to the paint shop.

All the time spent not riding my wonderful steed because I had parts being powder-coated.

I'm here to tell you the horror of it all almost made me wet my drawers.  Woke up in a cold sweat.

Oh yeah--there were some monkeys in that dream somewhere.  Don't know where they came from. ;)
