I sold my 09 Connie in 2011. Now looking at going back to a concours but it is a 98 with only 18,000 miles on it. I heard a lot about the hydrolock on these bikes so is there an easy way to find out if this bike has had that problem/ Will replacing the OEM petcock with a new one help to keep it from happening? I like all the good things the bike has to offer but should let the thought of hydrolock stop me from buying it. The seller is asking $2500 for it, it has new front tire and current tags

manual petcock is one way of assisting in preventing hydrolocks. just changing your current one for the same won't necessarily help. hydrolocks require 2 events. failed petcock and floats.
most people have their carb bowls fitted with overflow tubes. there is a lot of info about this but first things first...
you can check for a hydrolock by measuring cylinder depths to see if they match. there is write ups /vids on that.
and personally 2500 is too much for that bike. low milage bikes come with their own headaches. I say no more than 1500.

Steve will show you how.
I made his tool out of a phillips screwdriver and rubber washers. worked great.

Didn't The Wizard (Jerry Gaither) have at least one running bike to sell?
-
I read on the cog forum that Mr. Gaither passed.

please,
Give it a couple weeks....
there are people working on assisting the liquidation and documentation/pricing/lists etc., which they will provide when the proper time has come...
so be patient, and let things pass a bit for right now...

Hopefully So Cal Joe can wait a bit. Not trying to stress Jerry's family. Just trying to line up a sale for them. I think it goes without saying that we all want the best for those that Jerry left behind.

Just put that info out there, I wasn’t suggesting he get on the phone right now and make it happen!
