On to the next step in the Diesel Gate saga.

https://claims.vwgoa.com/ is now asking more relevant questions and asking for title, registration, and license docs. Once these are received and reviewed we'll be one step closer to selling the Jetta back. I answered their questions and uploaded the requested docs.

Next!

The judge didn't sign off on the details of the settlement on the 18th as scheduled. Now the date is Oct 25th.  >:(

I've changed my mind on what vehicle I'm going to buy to replace the Jetta Sportwagen TDI. Gonna get a 2017 VW Golf Sportwagen SE. We really like our old Jetta and the new Golfs really are nice. Plus the Golf is almost $6k less than the Mazda and I can use the $500 VW Good Will cash that I have left towards the new V-Dub.

Since I'm getting $24k back from VW on the buyback I'll only have to kick in ~$1.5k to get the new car. Not bad, drove the TDI for 5 years and get to replace it with a new very similar car for $1.5k.

I test drove one and it's REALLY nice. That's what got me thinking about sticking with VW. No, not getting one though. I really don't need AWD or the off road capability of that car. Plus it has a TON of bells and whistles that can break and it's about the same price at the Mazda CX-5. I'd rather not spend the extra dough on stuff I don't need.

No tow package and I haven't seen any specs on the towing capacity of the Golf. I'm thinking that towing is probably a no go with the Golf. When I tow the trailer I'll just use my pick-up or the RV.

I hadn't heard of the VW Alltrack before. They do look nice. I own 6 vehicles and all of them are either 4WD or 1WD. I could see this as a replacement for my wife's Ford Escape. But I would want it in a diesel TDI  ;)

The Alltrack is really nice! VW is calling it their Subaru killer. You won't be seeing a TDI version in this county, you can count on that!

I've changed my mind again and I'm back on the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. I asked myself which one do I really want and my answer was the Mazda.

On Saturday I received the formal offer from VW to buy back my Jetta. They offered me just a lil over $24k for it. I had to print out the documents, sign and have them notarized, and then scan and upload to the VW claims portal. All done and accepted. Now I wait for VW to offer me a range of days and times for me to take the car to the local VW dealer for the final time and get my money.

Don't worry, I won't except any paper money that has Mickey Mouse or Donald Trump's pictures on it.

Pretty much. About all that's left is to sell my VCDS, a few filters, and some oil to someone who can use it. Know anyone like that?    ;)
