"Lost Light"-by a guy named Connelly, crime drama about a retired LA detective, starts slow but gets good.

That is the series I am trying to get thru now. I really like the character. I have read 3 books in the series and there are a lot more to read.

timsatx, I've got a few books by him I picked up at a sale. Almost threw the book away as it looked like it was just a silly LA crime drama read by folks on the beach who never had any excitement in their lives. It got better and now i' going to read the next in theseries after I'm done with this current book about a couple of WWII OSS guys hunting former Nazi's from late WWII Yugoslavia, man is it different, not graphic, well, yeah, its graphic, but thorough in describing torture techniques used.

"Young Patriots" by Charles Cerami. Story of Alexander Hamilton and James Madison around the time of the Revolutionary War. These guys were amazing and only in their early 30's!!when they created the U.S. Constitution.

Sounds great. I do enjoy reading about the lives of these brilliant men. It gives me hope that maybe soon someone like these men will surface in our country to help guide us back to our founding principles.

Ghost Rider by Neil Peart. Hard read.

Next up is Neil Young's Waging Heavy Peace.

If you are into 60-70's music, David Crosby's Long Time Gone is a must.

Enumclaw, if ya like Neal Stephenson try his 2nd novel "Zodiac: An Eco-Thriller".
Quite different from his current style but excellent fun and full of action.

Thanks Boomer, I'll give that a shot.  Just finished Snow Crash this weekend.

Just finished reading "The Great Bridge" By David McCullough about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge.   Also read his book "John Adams", also a good read.

I have it sitting in front of me though I haven't quite started reading it yet.  The Intercept by Dick Wolf, who is also the creator and producer of NBC's Law and Order. I did just finish my re-reading of Stephen Hunters Point of Impact.

I'm working my way through a series.  "The Sacketts" by Louis L'amour.  Never thought I'd like reading westerns, but I picked one up when I had nothing else handy and for the moment, I'm hooked.

"A Game of Thrones" by George Martin.

My wife bought the 5 book bundle for her Kindle and the way she ranted and raved I had to give it a go. I'm about half way through the first book. Damn good reading! It's hard to put down.

About 1/2 through volume one of Shelby Foote's three volume set on the Civil War (The War between the States for our southern brethren). I am pretty familiar with American history, especially that period but the way Foote writes I am continually surprised as he does not name the battle coming up but rather sets the stage and we get to watch the engagements unfold. Just finishing up with Seven Pines. Unbelievable suffering and privation, fortitude, duty and bloodshed; I find it a moving read 150 years after the fact.
