Fairing stay?
« on: May 22, 2012, 07:08:20 PM »
Is the main fairing stay for the 86-93 models the same as the later ones?  Both my antlers have cracked and I'm looking for a replacement on Ebay.

Are you talking about where the main fairing attaches to the steering head?

the upper fairing stay for the early models are different than the laters as the gauge cluster is different which i would imagine has different mounting points. im sure that isnt the only difference.

The 2 different stays aren't compatible.  If you run the newer stay, you can't run the older gauges.

You can modify one the old generation to fit the new gauges, horn mounts and inners, provided you have the wrecked / bad stay from and old generation bike.  You'll need it to cut some mounting brackets off and weld onto the other.

For bolt and play - get the proper generation.  86-93 or 94-06.  Its much easier.
