$260 90 Concours Resurection New Member to ZG/ GTR Fanatics
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:09:24 AM »
 Well I am a member on another great Kawasaki forum, KZRider, and have been posting my Concours in a thread there. But I have been lurking here and at COG so I decided to join here for a bit of fun. Maybe some riders in the Colorado Front Range area will want to do some riding. I have the same user name over at KZR.
 Here is a link to the thread there if any body want to look at it: http://www.kzrider.com/forum/13-bike-related/481094-1990-concours-just-purchased-now
 So the bike comes together a bit at a time. Now the weather here is slowing progress, also the parts houses can be a bit slow sometimes.  8)

Welcome

I read that thread, nice job on bringing one back from the abyss.

Sounds like you have a good supplier lined up. We have a pretty decent one at

http://www.murphskits.com/catalog/

He's been stellar at supporting us, and is one of us. Check him out for various supplies, most prices are decent, and he's come up with some alternate suppliers to save a buck and/or keep things rolling.

Anyhow, have fun finishing 'er up.

Later.

 Thanks SteveJ,
 I also like the Google Map of the Members here on this forum. I've suggested adding it over at KZR.

Holy crap, what a steal! :) I liked the comment on the KZ board, cheaper than a bucket of chicken feet (or something like that) ;) That, and the ones about PITA getting maintenance done. The KZ's are pretty easy, not much plastic to take off before digging in ;)

I'm up by Estes Park, know my way around the early Connies, but it's kinda snow season up here :-/

Murphskits is the place to order repair/maintenance parts though. Good prices, quick shipping.

Great deal!  I'm right up the road in Castle Rock...and have an '88...love it, although it does have a few quirks...fork drain screws were on the '86-'93 models...they went away in '94, I believe...good luck!

 CRocker;
 Castle Rock is real close, 30min. I go up and down the canyon, up 67 quite a bit. The 105, Palmer park, Monument, Woodland Park, etc.  Once the weather clears up at the end of next week, I'll be out and about.

Rick Hall;
 Estes Park, I want to do a ride up through there and out around the back mountains. One of the KZR guys lives near Longmont. Been trying to get a look at his 900. Maybe come summer?
 I've done two trips to Seattle and back on the KZ1000 LTD. 2K miles this summer riding around CO, in on trip.
 Looking forward to getting the Concours capable.

Think I'm going riding tomorrow...probably not too far up into the mountains, though!  I still think we'll have some more riding weather before the end of the year...

 Weather forecast is not to good for tomorrow, another snow storm. Keep down low, as it will be snowing everywhere in our area, supposedly. The Weather Guesser's can never get it completely right.
 I get my last Concours Part Wednesday afternoon, late. So by Thursday the C10 will be ride-able again. 8)
 Weather forecast for Fri- Sun looks promising!! ::)

Thanks for the post. You must have gone and read the thread on KZR. I'll most likely go see a paint shop for some product next spring, I would have to paint it in the great outdoors. No winter painting for me. the Garage is off limits for such work.
 Haven't found the need for grip heaters, Used to use them on my Sled back in Alaska.
 The dent pulling would be good if the paint was still good. But I'm either borrowing or purchasing a stud welder to pull those two big dents. Once they're out my putty skills are pretty decent.

Oh - grip heaters from casporttouring.com - http://www.casporttouring.com/cst/motorcycle/210007RR.html  Yeah baby!

Did you notice the piece on the grip heaters page where it says "Don't use for Motorcycles"? Just saying...

 Littleton is pretty close. I go up and down the Jarre Canyon out of Sadilia. Don't know what the roads will be like Friday on. But I get one last part for the bike tomorrow afternoon. Then want to get out on the road to test the brake upgrade and the suspension work. Went up to lakewood about last week on my KZ after the snow.
 I'm trying to get Crocker as well, he's in Castle Rock. Met him before through Craigs List, nice guy.
 What your schedule like? What sort of ride are you wanting?

Only if you will explain RTE and CR....

This Sunday is not good for me but the following may be. I do have tomorrow afternoon off, otherwise my schedule is fully buggered.

Sure!

RTE = Ride to Eat

CR = Castle Rock

As for scheduling...I'm off Sundays and Mondays...pretty much busy the other five days...week after would work for me...heck, any day off would!
