WNC September 16th and 17th rides
« on: September 14, 2011, 04:00:58 AM »
Group riding on Sept 16th and 17th, meeting @ Black Mt Ingles gas station, 10am both days. Sport tour pace, plan on lunch and 4 or 5 hours ride. Should not stretch beyond 8 hours!

Friday should be west, not sure, David will be leading, but he was sighted out near Hellbender this weekend. Just sayin'.....

Saturday depends on group and weather: I will lead and have both high and low routes available. Actually I could go about a dozen different ways.

Possible picture op available, always a draw. www.blindkenny.com

Questions? Interest?

When I saw WNC ride it perked my interest...
Black Mountain is about two and a half hours from WNC so I am out.

That is like Mid-Western North Carolina.

Even if we are coming out that way? Ok, Cool. Waitaminute, 2 1/2 hours? I can be in 4 different states within that time line!

OK, I see where you are coming from: Mid Western NC. Gotcha. But if you come up behind me, please shut off the camera and flash before you pass! NC plates, burgundy with bad mirrors and soft bags that will actually hold a helmet.

Still, if you get frisky and decide you want to ride for some distance (I saw you had went 150 miles before you joined up with the guys with good fashion sense) we'd love to have you come out.

I have to work in Green Bay, WI tomorrow and won't get home until 0130, so Friday Will be a local ride...
Probably my Corn Dog Route to the DGMR and hang with the locals on the porch for a while and make fun of the pirates and slayers.

Saturday we are hooking up with a cruiser group for BBq in Tellico Plains at Krambonz.

From Black mountain on back roads has got to be four hours.

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day. Friday was way to overcast.

So post up pictures.
How did the rides go?

I don't normally do pictures and handed the rides over to Craig who said they had great sailing and no problems, and the visitors were well pleased.

Thanks for asking, how was the ribs?

I am lucky to have a BBq place that is soooooooo good!

Unfortunately, if more people don't start visiting them they might go away like other decent places.
Tellico Plains is a difficult place to have a diner.
If a Rider does not see a place in his line of sight, then he will never go there and rarely do they ask for directions.
Tellicafe' does a lot of motorcycle business and their food is pure crap and the service usually is terrible.
But they have a huge sign that riders can see from the Cherohala.

There are two places better just less than 1/4 mile away. Krambonz and Tellico Fish Camp- just past Tellicafe' on the left.

Go to the end of the Cherohala in Tellico Plains.
At the stop sign turn right, one block turn left at Sav-A-Lot parking lot.

Aim for 1400.
The brisket and Chicken are usually done by that time.

If you go at noon they only have hot fresh pork.
