Seats
« on: February 12, 2015, 04:31:23 PM »
I've been mostly commuting the last few years I've had my C10.  I went on a 300 mile ride yesterday and my rear is worse for the wear.  I looked online and the only real source I saw for a seat was Meyer and it's too expensive.  Corbin and Sargeant at least don't advertise one and Corbin doesn't answer emails.
Anyone had a shop re-foam their pan into a different shape?  I'd like more of a saddle with a some back support.  Something like this Corbin seat:

BTW, I ordered Murph's knee savers too.

Have you considered a Russell Day Long ?  Pricey but your butt will thank you.

I currently have a Russell Day Long with 150k miles on it. I like it.

I've heard good things about this outfit and it should be a bit more frugal than the big boys:

Thanks guys.
Russell, Mayer and Laam are all riding distance from me.  Will definitely have to give them a close look.

It's an old FAQ and some links might be deadends but the info is still valid.

Everything I read about the Corbin made it seem like they are a hard seat.  I ended up buying a Russell Day-Long seat on Ebay that CRocker linked me to.  Hasn't shipped yet.  Probably paid a little too much but didn't want to spend 6 months searching.

I bought a used stock seat on Ebay for $20 too.  Pan and brackets included.  I may try my hand at building one.

I agree with Stasch.  I got my Russell Day Long in the mail about a month ago and the moment I sat on it, I knew I had just made the best decision in a long time.  Save up and go first class!

He did my seat on my C14.  I like it better than it was with either a sheepskin or air pad.  He'll shape it any way you like.

With your spare seat pan and the info on this web site:
http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/index.php
you should be able to build a truly great seat. Plan to use the data on my Speed Triple spare seat. Another seat tilted forward. Ugh!

I've got a perfect OEM seat off my 2000 that I'll sell for rehab if you're interested. Let me know.

I had a corbin, it looked nice, was nice leather, but was like sitting on a bag of cement! Currently I have a sergeant with almost 10k miles on it and it fits me fine.
