May be that Joe lived in Colorado, news didn't have so far to travel.

Joe Cocker passed away this morning at his home in Crawford, CO.

I'll be playing some vintage tunes this afternoon, Woodstock comes to mind.

Rick, give me aan houror so, to pull up the linky to one of the best JC concerts I've seen in my life, I posted it one night during a"what are you watching now" evenings, but I'll pull it up again, it was a surpreme concert, and worthy of tribute.

Hang tight..on the porch smokin and drinkin, and posting from my nook... which makes linking difficult...

On a salvation note, Joe Cocker never smoked cigs.... as far as I can know...

Not sure, I tongue in cheek made a comment to momma about that, knowing he never smoked (cigs) but I think he did workk in mines as a yougster.....

My sister constantly sends me stuff. About that sheet because as a highschool vocational job, I worked for a company manufacturin laboratory counter tops.. epoxy and asbestos sheets.... I have no recourse now, but have no respiritory issues.... but I did turn them in when I realized at the time (1973) they needed to provide us with SOME semblence of " protection" ... I couldn't breath thru my filterbmask after 3 hours, with double filters installed, spraying the acrylic laquer on the countertopss combined with the dust in the shop from fabrication of the raw materials...

Stinking bastiches... I'm sure they're all dead now, but if they aren't, I want to know where they're iron lungs are pluged in, so I can chainsaw the poles down...

I would be surprised if he didn't smoke cigs. We all pretty well did back in the day. I could not find anywhere that smoking was the cause of his death though. Maybe the forty years of playing in bars and concert halls with smoke in the air.

I was under the impression that he didn't, but it seems he smoked until 1990 or so, and stopped, I saw an interview many years ago where he was asked if his voice was attributed to smoking, where he said he didn't smoke, I guess I was wrong based on that. He'd been battling small cell lung cancer for the last 2 years.

I heard a snippet today from an interview and he said he smoked two packs a day but quit 20 years earlier (don't know when the interview was done) because it was changing his voice. Actually losing the low tones.

A read a scientific study once that concluded 100% of all non smokers died. It was posted on the interweb so the veracity may be questionable

While smoking is a big contributor to contracting lung cancer, you don't have to smoke to get it any more than you have to drink to get cirrhosis of the liver.

True. You can get it from Asbestos, coal, and any number of airborne irritants. Also, many of us grew up in homes and traveled in cars of heavy smokers and we inhaled.
