Regina Sk. - Whitehorse YT. - Regina, Sk.
« on: September 04, 2012, 10:02:58 PM »
Hotels are booked.

Friends have been called, guest rooms readied.

New PR3s. Valve adjustment, brake recall done. (14 hours labour!)

September 6th to 14th, 2012.

Day one, Regina to Edmonton. 800 km.

Day two Edmonton to Fort Nelson. 1100 km.

Day three Fort Nelson to Whitehorse. 1000 km.

Day four R & R in Whitehorse.

Day five back to Fort Nelson.

Day six back to Edmonton.

Day seven and eight training at head office in Edmonton. (This way my trip to Edmonton, and the return to Regina are paid for, plus the three nights stay in Edmonton!)

Day nine home to Regina.

6000 km @ 100 kph = 60 hours of riding. I don’t think the C14 has ever gone that slow on the highway, so I can cut a few hours off the trip.

However, there will be some long distances between gas stops in northern BC and YT, So I may have to stretch the range a little by driving the speed limit.

Any suggestion of where to stop and enjoy the scenery? What to pack into the Great White North?

Thanks fellow riders.

BB

I've been to AK (via Cassier and/or Alcan) several times, majority by car though.

Two things come to mind... Mosquito dope (lots), and go with the flow: Lodging is often rustic (a crusty "motel" sign), and food is often an off kilter "food" sign.

The "Milepost" is recommended reading, mandatory now that I think about it. It will tell you about "must see" venues.

Whitehorse is a hoot. Ft. Nelson was nothing extraordinarily special, tourist wise. Was for me anyway.

Oh, "see gas, buy some".
