Title: I think I found a better Tire Pressure Sensor battery
Post by: jamiemac on February 27, 2013, 04:59:03 AM
I plan to solder in a couple of new TPS batteries, and was searching Battery Bobs website and found these.
http://www.batterybob.com/product.asp?intProdID=303321 (http://www.batterybob.com/product.asp?intProdID=303321)

Most folks that had been doing it have been using these.

I believe the first ones will be easier to make fit. Guess I'll see. I ordered a couple. Oh, and they are a couple of bucks cheaper.

At least this one has the leads on the same side.

Nice!  I went up to cold frigid GA and I got the warning on my bike.  I was planning to soldier a couple of bats in mine next time i have the wheels off.

I'll be watching you goo-roo types closely in this thread heh (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/bigthumb.gif)

A member at the other site has a done several of these. I posted the same pic that Conrad did and asked what he thought. He suggested the batts with the larger tabs with the holes. I think we can make a more secure solder joint with these so that is what I bought. I also bought  ten of the battery holders. If these will easily fit I may use them instead to make battery replacement easier. I won't know until I open up one of the units. I bought ten because I was unsure on the Chinese Ebay site whether there were actually 5 to a pack or just 5 available. I bought two packs since they were only about $3.00. So I have extra, if anyone wants a set PM your address.

On the other site someone dremeled up the unit and epoxied in the holder. I am not sure I want to put a dremel on my unit.   :-\ :o

I might have missed it , but are the TPMS(and Battery) covered by the initial 3 yr warranty and any subsequent 3 yr warranty that you add???  Thanks if this has been covered before....

Kawasaki claims that these batteries 'should last' 5 years. So if you're under wattanty and your batteries are less than 5 years old, your dealer should replace them under warranty. I had mine done and so did LOTS of other guys.

I bought these ones. The tabs come out the same side. I haven't soldered them in yet but hope they work.

My closest dealer is about 30 min away and since I do my own tires anyway, it would actually be faster to do them myself when I change tires. Well in theory. I'll let you know after the first time I do it. ;)

Good luck with that! I'd do the same in your case.

Same thing here but I thought I paid $7 for UPS ground. It was about 2 months ago and can't remember.

I read that USPS will not ship lithium internationally, but will domestically. batterybob.com doesn't charge shipping, and I assume He just mails them in a padded envelope.

Not sure if this was intentional, but it struck me as humorous!   8)

When I need more in 3 years I will look up battery Bob. Probably doesn't bother tell the USPS that there is a gram or less of lithium, completely sealed in stainless steel in the package ;)

I took the old batts to a local battery place and they made two for me in a couple of hours for five bucks. Look locally for abattery specialty place.
