New 2013 owner from Adirondacks and TriState area
« on: December 05, 2020, 06:18:53 AM »
I picked this 2013 C14 up near Lake George, 3800 miles and bone stock except for grip puppies and ram ball mount. I traded a Yamaha Roadstar for it and absolutely love it. Rode it 160 miles down state for her first trip and it's just an awesome bike. It is paired well with it's stable mate, 05 Rocket III. I've gotta say, I feel like I could ride the thing forever, it was 46 degrees and with chaps and heated grips was no problem. At 6'3" I think a slightly taller screen and peg lowering will help me fall asleep while riding on long trips....

Great to see some "locals" on here!

At 6'4" I have the same needs for this, the pegs are ok for me (31"inseam) but the windscreen needs attention for sure.

Welcome to the Forum.
I'm not as tall as either of you, and I went to a MRA Vario windshield.
The MRA Vario is actually lower than stock, but it gives more protection due to the adjustable fairing/spoiler on top.
MRA also makes a X-creen version that has a taller fairing/spoiler.
Might work well for you. I know some of the taller guys have used them.

Reason I mention this is; some have gone to much taller shields and the height caused extra load on the windshield mechanism.
We think, because of the extra load,,, a few have had failures.
Bottom line; If you go taller, don't go super tall, or keep your speed down when the windshield is extended.

Ride safe, Ted

Thank you very much for the info, I had not considered the extra load on the windshield mount (mechanism).  I will definitely look hard before committing to a change.
I touched Connie today for a minute, snow sucks... :chugbeer:
