Connie Mark,
Where do you want to Ride tomorrow, and what time? The Connie won't ride, but the KZ1000, just needs a bit O gas!
I sadly have to go into work at around 9:30 in the a.m. That pretty well kills the morning. Probably done around 11:00. I do have plans for lunch at 1:30, so I may have spoken too soon. I will try to turn those lunch plans into dinner plans. My # is (3), 834, three sevens and a 2. Let's talk around 9:00 am if that works for you.

So yesterday Monday the 14th a couple of us meet up and did a couple hundred miles  out in the Flats, 6K' in the Wind. All in all pretty decent day, with a bit of cruising at 80 or so.

Checked the mileage of my first fill up, ride I did by myself a week or so ago. 46mpg on that ride which was up to 10K', and while I hadn't done the brake upgrade yet, so i didn't go into the corners real fast. I did run it a bit though, 80+ @ over 9K'.
So I'll get another fill up after this last ride in a day or two. Hopefully taller windshield tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday.
Pulled the Timing Rotor after checking the Factory setting, and increased it to the extra 4 degrees, so now 14-39 curve. While I was there i pulled the T-chain tensioner for a look see, all good so I just re-set it and re-installed.
Then 1 of the shift linkage Ball Joints was getting loose, so i got a couple of new Heim Joints and a bit of hardware to redo the linkage. Nice and tight now-$8. Popped on a Vista Cruise Thumb Lock as well for the straights. I have one on the KZ and really like it.
Have to have another ride at least before any other changes to the tuning.

Decided to do the Overflow tubes Today, as it was easy and cheap. Like $4 for enough Brass Tube to do 5 sets of carbs. It is really easy for those who believe they are capable. There is a good write up here: http://web.ncf.ca/ag136/floatDrainTubes.htm by one of the members here.
I also set up the Float Bowls with different hardware, long Socket Head Cap Screws, 40mm, with a lock-nut/ washer that works like the Head of the Original screw. So once loosened the head works as a thumb wheel. So the bowls come off a lot easier if needed.
The 25" Clear View windshield I bought off of a member here showed up Today in the Mail, it's mounted but I will give it a ride tomorrow. Hopefully it will be better than the Stocker for wind around buffeting and noise around the Helmet. The Buffeting at 80+ was great from the stock shield. I'm over 6'.

With the long screws do you locktite or jam the nuts? Or snug them with a wrench?

T Cro ®,
There are purpose made long thumb wheel bowl screws, as well as a long thumb wheel Idle Mixture screw. I needed a few screws as the Phillips head was damaged. So off to Fastenal for some different replacements. Pretty cheap, and much easier too pull the bowls on the bike.

kzz1king,
They are Ny-lock nuts. They go on BACKWARDS all the way down the threaded section, then the washer, screw in normally. So the nut is just the Head of the screw. But it is a Dummy, just there to still apply the pressure against the Bowl. The socket cap screw is where you do the actual tightening, and twisting with your thumb/ forefinger.

4mm x .7 pitch 40mm long 16 needed/ Ny-Locks/Washers. About $4
This clears the Idle Adjustment speed thumb wheel, Just.

Yep I looked at you pix on my iPhone this morning and liked it; looked at it again on the computer and still like it...... I can see where the long screws/w locknut's could/would be used like thumb screws allowing you to remove the bowls with a lot less trouble. I've done this twice; once to install different main jets (I run a DJ kit) and once to clean the idle jets. While it requires nimble fingers and a cold engine it can be done as long as you've got hex head screws (allen head) not phillips.

Well the Volt Meter I ordered showed up the other day, and I got around to fitting it. Since I had replace my gauge cluster, because of broken plastic when I got the bike. I had a Spare Clock/ housing. This area I cut from the broken Gauge surround, then fitting it to the shape of the Top of trim panel, I glued it on to it. Cutting and filing on the Clock Insert area, I was able to fit the Digital Panel Volt Meter in the same area. So here is a few shots of the Dash, without the additional Gauge, the Dash was Off on 1 side. Only the Clock, on the Right. looks a bit strange like it needed something on the Left. Oh and I get a 13.8- 14V while riding.

 Thanks SteveJ.
Its real easy to read, except with the sun on it. Just raise your left hand for a shade, then you can see it. Otherwise it is real big and Bright.  Sample Rate is like 5x a second.

 Thanks, connie_rider.

Well it was just to nice here today to be indoors.
So here is where I went, had the Sheriff in Victor tell me I was going to fast. At least it was a warning, Happy Thanksgiving to me. Couldn't believe all the bikes on the 105, 70 easy!! No other bikes up high though. There was a few patches of ice in the shade, in the middle of the road, Ok where the Caggers tires travel.
About 300mi by the time I was done.
