Title: Refurbished (repaired) KIPASS ECU + 2 key fobs
Post by: Tree on February 25, 2018, 05:07:37 PM
This ECU was damaged by an electrical fault.  PN 21175-0128.  I sent it to a repair company and it has been returned after replacement of a protection diode and voltage regulator chip.  I paid $408.28 for the repair.

The ECU did not come with a warranty of any sort from the repair shop.  I wouldn't have expected one anyway.

I would prefer to either bench test it or install it and check it with KDS but I don't have that capability.  I could take it to the dealer mechanic to test but then I would have to fork over at least $100 for that reassurance.

The price of the ECU is $400 + Shipping for anyone who is interested.  I will offer a 30 day warranty from the date of the sale during which time it can be returned and refunded in full - no questions.  I understand that I am attempting to sell an ECU that has failed and repaired and its functionality is still in question.

It has 2 key fobs that have been registered to the ECU.

I have a KDS3 on the way.  I plan on installing the KIPASS ECU and seeing how she does.  IF/When it registers I will road test it for a while to confirm that it is fully functional.  The plan is to sell it after it has been verified fully functional.

First things first.  Thank you for your service to our country.
Did you ever confirm full functionality of the ECM you have for sale?
Would it work on my 2012 Connie?
Thank you.

I have not verified the functionality - but not for the lack of trying.  I am still looking for the latest version of KDS so I can swap the ECU's around.  I did not expect it to be so difficult to get a tool.

I don't know if it work on your 2012 so someone with more experience will have to answer that one.

I know it doesn't mean much coming from a bubblehead but Semper Fi my brother.

That means everything to me, thank you my brother.

I purchased my 2012 Connie last summer, and have only put about 200 miles on her since (i have a bad heart).
i lost my active fob, (i never had the passive) a couple of months ago and searching the internet has led me here.
According to what i have found so far, your ECU should work on my 2012.   I'll have to research this a lot more, hopefully someone has a definite answer.

Thank you.

The original/repaired KIPASS ECU has been installed and is currently being road tested.  Everything looks and runs great.  It is for sale at $400 and includes 2 full-function FOBs.  The $400 is what I paid to repair it.  I'm not looking to profit from the sale.

It only took me 10 months to get KDS updated.  Ugh.

It is from an '08

You sure you won't have another lightning strike and need it?  ::)

It would suit any (Nth American) bike with 315MHz TPMS sensors I believe.

Plan B is to keep it.  If no one needs it then I'll just chunk it on the shelf until the next solar flare.  :-*

I hope you're right but I don't know for sure.

It's my understanding that all 315MHz KIPASS ECUs are interchangeable and all 434MHz KIPASS ECUs are interchangeable.  Maybe one of those unfortunate folks who've lost their fobs, or another knowledgeable dude,  will be able to confirm my belief.  But I've been wrong before, I just can't remember when.   ;D   Mind you, I find my memory ain't as good as it used to be last century.    :o

To be fair I would be hesitant to buy something that had been previously "broken".  I am using the repaired ECU now and it is fully functional.  I will work with whoever wants it to allow them some time to install it and then road test it for a while.  I'm easy like that.

(BTW you Da Man Freddy.  Thanks again)

I'm interested in this, would it be able to be installed on a 2013  ZG1400CD? I sent a PM, but I'm having trouble navigating the Fanatics Forum layout, go figure.

I dunno if it will work.  You will need KDS to get everything set up also.

this should help explain it...

'08-'09 are same

'10-18 are same, but are different from '08-'09...

that's the compatibility breakdown

even buying one of the 2, in the correct year breakdown, you still need to have it installed using the KDS3 software.

[BUMP]

This ECU has passed the retest as far as I am concerned.  Now, if anyone has an '08 or '09 and needs a KIPASS ECU plus 2 full function (passive and active RF) I am willing to talk.

I am adding this because I'm actually happy today :banana Don't spoil it by being a douche.

[Bump]

Howdy.  It's me again.  Peddling a used/repaired ECU that's still installed in my machine and running like a scalded cat.  Just saying.  I have another one.  Who needs 2 KIPASS ECU's?

Hello,
My nephew has a 2010 c14 and lost his only fob... I am absolutely sure he would be interested in purchasing your working unit, as long as it is compatible with his bike. It would really help him out if it is that is for sure. He is going crazy without his bike and is trying to take on the task of completely rewiring his bike around the kipass, which i dont think will work but you cant tell this kid anything... so if you still got it you might find yourself a sale here...

sorry man, I answered your original posting on the COG forum, and gave you the breakdown...
the one tree has, is '08-'09... it will not interchange.. with your later model.. go back and read what I posted on COG forum also..

this is the third post concerning model/ecu// swaps, and cures I have tried to assist on today;
might also read this completely, as it pertains.. sorry again, but you need different parts...
