I just think the Pilot GTs spoiled me.  (Damn you, Michelin!)

Exactly how I feel. I am really disappointed with my 890 rear. Walks all over the rain groves on the freeway. I think I'll try lowering the pressure like SteveJ and see how that does. Haven't had it in rain yet but I can tell you, you better be careful on wet exposed aggregate crosswalks. It slips out without any effort at all. My GT never did that. Did I say I am really disappointed with my 890 rear?

Odd. I was around Hot Springs NC in terrible weather and was walking away from the CBR's. Only slip I had was my fault: hit the center paint and scared the crap out of me. Did I mention terrible? I ride in anything but this was the worst this year: when you get soaked behind the barn door at speed? I never have had that happen before.

I found mine to be better at an actual 40/42 psi.  I made the mistake of trusting the gas station gauge when I first had the tires on.  Then I used the gauge I usually use and found I was 5psi low.  Getting it right made a difference.

They still suck on wet paint, though.  The GTs were much better there.

Now that I've had a chance to ride this tire for a while, and after putting a new PR2 up front, I think I'm liking the Journey. I've still not pushed it on wet roads(rainy season is over), but everything else seems to be working nicely. I had been carrying 35psi for a while, went to 40, have now dropped back to 35. This tire is rated for over 1000 lbs at what, 42 or 44 lbs? I think an unladen Connie is just fine at 35, IMHO, YMMV.

I really hope they figure out how to make a round one, though. :( I run the Shinko 700 series(70/30 street knobby) on my KLR and they really work great, plus they are round. ;)

Just spooned on a SE890 Journey 160/80/16.  My previous tire was a Shinko 777 150/80/16.  A quick inspection show the two are really very close in width.  Upon measuring they are within about 1mm.  They are both right at 6" which calculates to 152.4 mm.  It wasn't fair to compare the height of a worn out tire to a brand new on so I didn't even try.

I was hoping to see some Reviews on these tires after some of you have put at least a full riding season on them. ???? :-\

I removed the 890 after about 3500 miles. I got tired of the out of round(second in a row) POS.

I mounted up  a 777 in the 150 size. Much nicer tire, and it is round. It currently has about 11k miles on it, sh/be good for another 2-3k. About 2.5 to 3k was 75+mph loaded with camping gear. Rides and handles nicely, no surprises on cornering, teams up well with the 110/80 PR3 on the front.

Thanks Steve.  I've got a brand new set sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.  I hope I don't have the same issue.  :o

I put one on this spring.  No out of round issues.  About 5k trouble free miles.  Still looks new and i've used it pretty hard.  I did however, spin it getting on I-95 the other night on an entrance ramp in the rain.  I think i've learned where its wet break point is now.  Luckily I was going pretty straight at the time.  In defense of the tire, I was rolling at about 5k when I throttled up with Steve's jet kit.  In the rain.

Well, replacing my Shinko 777 rear and Pilot GT front with a full set of Shinko 890s..   So, is it obivious when they are out of round, or do you start 'bouncing' when you go down the road?

I felt a bounce at certain speeds, maybe 40-60??

You can also put the bike in gear and check it while running on the C stand with something on the floor next to the tire tread. Any variance in the gap indicates an out of round condition. Good Luck.

I installed a set just before I departed for the National Rally in Johnson City TN.  I now have just over 4K miles on them.  They replaced a set of Pilot GT's.  So far I love'em!  Yes, they wonder a little on "Rain Groved" pavement and they are a little "Sensitive" when Slabing it from point A to B.

However, they improved the Ridability of my Connie greatly!  It's more nimbile and feels lighter when under way.  The GT's made her feel like a Tank and a handfull when in the Twisties.

I havent had any issues with "Out of Roundness" to this point and they dont show any signs of wear other then a 1/2" "Chicken Strip".   For my money, these are the best set of "Matched" tires for the C-10.

Just my $0.02.
