Title: AMA/WSB in UT question
Post by: kawasherpa on May 25, 2011, 10:52:29 AM
Are they doing the parde thing in SLC Friday night?  Any get togethers going on with Kawasaki, cog, forum, etc.?  Rick

It appears not.  I asked around on the Utah Sport Bike Association forum, as well as checking the MMP website, and it appears that absolutely nothing is planned on Friday as far as I can tell.

Perhaps UHP pulling over all those motorcyclists, etc. just outside of MMP last year put a bad taste in the promoter's mouth.  Myself, I was at least hoping for something at the Gateway again, but again nobody has heard anything.

The good news is, Johnson's Pass has been open for a bit now.  The bad news: Wolf Creek, Mirror Lake, and Monte Cristo routes are not expected to be cleared by this weekend, as UDOT doesn't want to spend the money.  The Cottonwoods are both open (pretty much year round, due to the ski resorts at the top), but will probably have crazy traffic this weekend...

On Friday evening at 6 p.m., the official pre-race party will take place at Honda Suzuki of Salt Lake, located at 2354 South State Street in Salt Lake City. World-renowned stunt rider Jason Britton will perform and a number of motorcycle racers will be in attendance.
