Pointsettia's
« on: November 13, 2020, 10:43:30 AM »
I recycle the plants after Christmas. I trim them back, put them in the basement, water about once every 2 weeks or so then plant them in the yard in the spring after the last frost and they do well in Cleveland, actually really growing big and vibrant green in August, they will get big if they can grow, 3-4 feet high and taller, they are a bush actually. I've never had the luck of getting them to turn red as they usually go inside too early, this year though we've had an incredible string of warm weather and they have started to turn because of the lack of light. I have mine in a big planter this year and I put a black plastic bag over it and put it in the garage as it's been getting cold, we'll see, I might have a huge red plant next to the tree!

That's a good idea about wrapping up the plant in a garbage bag.  I've got a date fig tree growing in a pot outside that needs to be protected so I'm told by my wife.

I agree, turkey has got to get more respect. ;D But, you got to plan 6-8 weeks to turn your plant red. I never even think about Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving day, no shopping, no decorations, certainly, absolutely no even any music at all. ;D
