Title: It's 3am and I am awakened by this giant crash...
Post by: Rhino on June 25, 2013, 11:35:46 AM
It's 3am and I am awakened by this giant crash. My wife is out of town and I'm alone so I start searching the house with Glock in hand. I find nothing. I go into the garage and find both my bikes on their side. First thing that goes through my head is of course WTF??? Strong stench of gas is bad. The full 5 gal tank of my Suzuki DR650 is now on the floor of the garage. I take the panniers off the DR and right the bike then right the Connie. At this point I have no idea what happened. I open the garage doors to let the garage air out. Next morning I find the culprit. I had just gotten back from an outstanding adventure ride with my son that evening and being the tired lazy person I am I left the DR sill packed up. Apparently I had also gotten a slow leak in the rear tire (haven't had to time to find it yet) and as the tire bled down with the considerable weight of the full panniers it tipped over away from the side stand and knocked the Connie over in the process. Since my C14 has Canyon cages and rear bag protectors there was almost no damage. Unfortunately  the right side case rubbed up against a pillar that was finished with sheetrock and some white paint rubbed off on the case.

You see.. If Oskar Pistorious had shot his girlfriend in the garage instead of the bathroom with that alibi he'd get away with it  ;D

Low tire no kidding...after setting for weeks my DR tipped over in the garage last December.
Had saddlebags on but don't remember if there were weight in them.

Sorry about that Rhino.

Who would have the Glock if she was home?   ;)

If the wife were home, he might not have needed the Glock at all. ;)

Was that one of those tubeless spoke wheels leaking?

Maybe, haven't had time to check it out. But like ZG said, it waited until I got home to be a problem.

I guess I would still have the Glock 21 and she would have the Steyr M40.

Rethinking tubeless yet? ;)  Just got done replacing the trials tire on the rear of the EXC with a proper knobby.  Extra heavy duty tube filled with slime, run sane pressures (like at least 8psi) and no problemos 8)
