Anyone see the new colors of the 2013 K1600GT? Looks Good!

I love my C14, but damn these are nice bikes  ;D

Any of you ever get a chance to test ride one??

Sat on one. Sat on a GTL even longer.  They are really nice bikes.  They are big bikes even compared to the C14.

Maintance is expensive, the dealer quoted me $300-500 every 6K miles.

The GTL is the better buy since it includes the trunk.  The factory trunk for a GT is $1500

A base GT is 21K, with trunk and GPS prep you're at $23K.  The GTL is around $23K base

I declined the test ride, I'm afraid I'd buy one.  ;)

I haven't ridden one but did sit on one and agree they are big, at least for me... :-\

I could see me getting one over a Goldwing though when I age a bit more and retire...  ;)

My avatar says it all...  ::) ;D

But I mounted one at a show and, honestly, the feeling I had was simply a feeling of... plastic!  :-\
Perhaps because the radio wasn't mounted, but the general aspect of the cockpit wasn't in line with the expectations of a top big luxury bike!
I have to say that the 1200 RT looks much better!  ;)

I was able to check one out at the bike show in Cleveland back in Jan, & yeah it does have a lot of plastic, but it sure was comfy. I'd have to reserve final judgement till I was able to take one out for a ride and get that I6 opened up ;D. My guess is that I'd like it ;)

I have a few thousand miles both with the GT and the GTL. Long trips (Munich - Zagreb - Budapest - Vienna and back to Munich in 3 days, for example) and short ones. On Autobahn and twisty Alpine passes. My conclusions are:
- better 2 up than the C14
- better handling than it has any right to be given its size and weight
- the C14 feels like a bicycle when swapping back and forth (I mean it in a positive way: nimble and light)
- C14 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun in the twisties, and for solo riding is the bike to have
C14 is 90% as comfortable, 150% as sporty, costs 70%. If your priority is comfort and money is no issue, by all means get one. For everybody else...
I can't imagine owning only a K16GT/L, whereas the C14 is my only bike and it's more bike than I can ever handle or need.
Build bridges, not walls.

Education is important. Riding my bike is importanter.

I owned one for a while, and liked it very much, but did not want to keep two bikes and sold it. Great handling bike, lots of fun in the twisties. I like the handling better than my C14, but I am still new to the C14, so that may change. BMW front ends just feel more planted in the corner, but that's just my opnion

No, I've enjoyed all of those bikes very much actually, and will do so with my C14 I expect. No toxicity on this end..that I can assure you of, but I can't say that some here are not a little toxic on the subject of BMW. Nevertheless, that's their cross to bare.

I for one don't dislike BMW bikes.  I just can't justify spending that much money on a bike.

I would love to have a [used] F800GS though...........................

Would much rather have a Goldwing.

My wife and I went to the BMW dealership to test ride a GTL. I had basically made up my mind to buy one (only sat on one at a MC show, never rode one); this was the requisite test ride with the wife to make sure she was comfortable on the pillion. The following were our first impressions.
She did not like the back seat, it seemed to be an afterthought; the pillion on the GTL is much wider than the GT seat and covers the passenger handles rendering them useless. She also complained the rear bag felt like it was mounted on rubber grommets and gave too much during take offs.
For me the engine/transmission combo was the noisiest and whiniest I had ever rode. The engine whined like a Banshee and the tranny clunked in every gear. It also clunked like a cheap plastic toy over ever bump. :o I could not see spending ~$30K for a bike that was not an order of magnitude more comfortable than the Connie. I complained about the whine to the salesman and he said it was not normal and was maybe due to it being a test bike? To make his point he started up a brand new GT and it sounded exactly the same. ::) I had to point out to him the bike needed service; the clutch reservoir was leaking onto the gas tank.
In short my wife and I were not impressed.

Two months later we bought a level 3 2010 Gold Wing in Pearl Yellow. No complaints from the wife and I feel like we got our moneys worth.

I really don't remember this comparison being shared here, but I think it is one of the better I have read.

Nice Wing LJ!

Just curious, what did the Wing set you back and how many miles were on it?

Thanks, I bought it from a nice gal who decided she wanted to tour in an airplane rather than on a motorcycle. It had a little over 3500 miles and I paid $19.6K (killer deal for the SF Bay Area). Her flying lessons were cutting into her riding time and we became the lucky owners.

I still own and ride my Connie everyday  ;D
The Wing is for some serious touring starting next year with a trip up to Canada.

I've already started the farkeling. I've found the Wing to be farkle ready with connectors for lights and other electronics hidden all over. I just installed an aftermarket spoiler w/brake light and lower fairing front foglights.
