electrical gremlin
« on: September 23, 2014, 06:57:17 PM »
Gauges, Tach, neutral light, all quit working. Both turn signal indicators both come on with high beams but the high beam indicator does not!

J- Box???????

Thanks, Tom

did you spray down the bike with a hose, directed at the left grip switch pod?
I think you should start at the major front harness plugs under the front left side fairing pocket, unplug and re-plug them all. Bad connections. Then move on to the J box plug, do the unplug/replug thing. and follow up with whacking the Jbox stoutly with the bike running. Gauges, Tach, neutral light, all quit working sounds like fuse issue.

I thinking the grip pod is the offender, it houses all the connections that would make signals and highbeam issue.

okay sorry for forgetting the important stuff, its a 2002 with 63000 miles. oil pressure, neutral, highbeam indicator don't work. tach, fuel gauge and temp gauge are inoperative. turn signal indicators work but come on with highbeams. Tail, brake lights and horn all work normally. four way flashers work correctly also.

Thanks for all of the advice, trying to whittle this down.

Sounds like a bad ground in the system if it's feeding through some lamps when they shouldn't be lit.
