Mich Commander II Rear/Road 2 front?
« on: February 11, 2014, 08:35:14 PM »
Anyone ever tried this combo?  They're available in the right sizes.  I am well aware one is a cruiser tire, I tend to wear out my rears quickly and I'm ready for a better shaped front tire (the sidewall drop off on the K701 kills the cornering traction).  I also do have the ZZR shock with no lowering link.

I have a Michelin Commander (I) on the back and a Pilot Road 2 on the front. Works fine.

I had a Commander II on the back. It rode smooth, cornered well on the dry, and matched up well with the PR3 and PR2 in front. It does slip out quite easily on a wet corner, but straight up, it grips well on the wet.

The corner slipping was bad enough that I pulled the tire way early, so no idea on mileage.

FWIW, I'm running a Shinko 77 in the back now, I'm on my second one and there is a fresh one in the shed that will go on next. This tire works quite well with a PR2, PR3, and my current tire, a Pirelli Angel GT. The fronts are all 110/80zr/18. The first one lasted about 13k miles, and still not to the wear bars. YMMV.

SteveJ,
Did you ever run a BT45 in rear and, if so, what kind of mileage did you get?  I just put a Shinko 777 on the back of mine.  Really like it, so far.  My rear BT45 hit the wear bars at 5300 miles so I'm interested in a comparison between the two tires.

Nope, never tried the BT45.
