Not as strong as I was. Need help putting bike on center stand. Can I cut an inch off the stand?

I used to have a tough time with the center stand too. Possible it’s your technique?

I had no problem when I had a 1400, but the 1000 is giving me fits.

I think they require different techniques. I had trouble with the 14 at first.

Had a Yamaha FJR and it was a piece of cake.
I can gat it on the center stand, but it is hard.

personally, I wouldn't... makes getting the tire off a p.i.t.a.
simple fix, free basically, just find a piece of 1x4, or 2x4 10" long, and roll the rear tire up on it... easy, free, and it will fit in a side bag.

... or maybe just a 1x4 which would gain 3/4" at the rear tire, a little less at the centerstand itself, and you could cut the ends on a 45 to roll up on it like butta.

you could put the front wheel up on a 2x4 which gives the height to easily put on centre stand. It is what I have done and works well

Yep. I put on lowering links and that made the center stand impossible to employ. The 2x4 trick works pretty well.

did you try it under the rear tire only? beforehand?

Never did try it under the rear. Years ago before the site crashed someone said under the front and it worked well for me so I did not even consider to try the rear.

Ensure you have enough air in the rear shock and that the 'sag' is properly set.
Tire choice makes a huge difference!
It's never 'easy', but it can get better.

I drive the rear tire on to a 2 x 6. Put down the side stand and dismount. Put my foot on the center and lift with the grab handle up and back. Takes a little muscle. Works even better if some one pulls the bike back.

I think I actually had that on my C10.
Indeed it will assist greatly, allowing a much better hand position for the lift...
it also is a great place to lock a helmet, and or jacket and gear, running a cable lock thru sleeves or face opening on helmet. Nice piece of metal.
