Hello All,
My name is Buzz. I started riding at age 10, on a 1968 Yamaha YA100 2 stroke/ oil injected dual sport (a tank). Next up was a 1978 Honda XL125. Then in high school I bought a 1981 Honda CX500. I really put the miles on that machine...what a great bike! I wish I still had it. While serving in the US Army I bought a brand new 1990 Yamaha YZ125. After that, I didn't own another bike until 9 years ago. I've had several bikes since then. Too many to mention. I've never owned a Kawasaki Concours 14 until now, and I have racked up over 2,000 miles in just a few weeks! My son and I ride dirt bikes as much as possible. We try to get to Hatfield McCoy at least once a year. Then we fill in the rest of the riding season with little 1 or 2 day trips to different riding areas around Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. I Ride 265 miles round trip to and from work. I rack up a ton of miles on whatever I'm riding each year. I plan on racking up thousands on this Concours. If any of you are in or around the Southwestern Pennsylvanian area don't hesitate to give me a shout! We can get out and ride.

Welcome Buzz! 265 mile commute :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: 4 hours a day commuting!!!??? Concours is a great way to do that but you need an airplane. Something fast and economical like an RV-3.

Hi Rhino,
I work a 2 day on 2 day off schedule. I drive that 6-7 days out of the month. It takes me about 2 1/2 hours to drive into work and the same to drive home. I like those funny faces in your post. Got a laugh outta me. Thanks

I'd rather do that than 140 miles (70 each way) at 4 hours...

Ha Ha! You got me there...I suppose I went to in depth. I must've been thinking about the times I may have to go through the city of Pittsburgh during morning traffic after I'm off shift. Ugh...that isn't my favorite riding amongst all the vehicles with everyone on phones texting and surfing the internet. Then my ride turns into a 3+ hour ride home. After 9 years of riding this ride to and from work I've found all sorts of great routes that take me away from and around Pittsburgh.

Welcome. I started riding at pretty much the same time (although I was a "bit" older). These are the specs on my first bike. Notice the amazing HP and Torque numbers (and the blatant lying about the weight):

T250
The first model year (Mk2 in Japan) of the T250 was something of a cross-over between T20 and the later T250 models. The engine was based on the short-lived T21 Hustler engine that delivered slightly more power than the standard T20 engine. The T250-I used the T20 front suspension, 24 mm Mikuni carburettors (as opposed to the later 26 mm Mikunis), tail lamp bracket, braced handlebars, clocks and seat.
The automatic oiling was still called Posi-Force system by Suzuki, for the later models the system got the name CCI.

I really like the idea of those oil injected 2 strokes. I wish we still had the availability of the oil injected 2 strokes today. I put a lot of great miles and hours of fun on that bike. My son and I ride 2 stroke dirt bikes and you know how much fun it is pinning the throttle back on one of those. That machine you rode way back when was quite capable according to the specs. I bet it was a blast to ride! What great bikes those old 2 strokes were.
