tire valve stem
« on: February 18, 2013, 11:28:36 AM »
I searched, but i didn't find much... Will the 90 degree valve stem work on a 2005 stock rear wheel? It says it was the stock valve stem used from 86 - 93 on murphs website. So i wasn't sure if it would work for an 05.

I have a pair of the 93 degree units -- haven't installed them yet. More important is the stickers that come with them! Terrific logo!

I've been using the 85* steel stems from Kurveygirl since my first tire change.  Bike now has 57k miles.  I replaced them the last time I did tires, because I noticed some cracking on the outside of the outer sealing grommet.  When I actually took them off, though, I inspected the seals and found that I shouldn't have worried.  It was only the very outer surface that had any cracks.  The seals were very good shape.  But I figure with about 40k on a set, it was cheap insurance to replace them.

I bought the OEM Kawasaki 90 degree rear stem for the pre 94 bikes to put on my 05 and it is too small.  The standard car size fits the back wheel on the 97-06.  I found this out 600 miles from home.  :'(

Yep. I emailed murph and asked him, he said they wouldn't fit the 05.
