Do you have a hankering for some great open pit Barb-Q?    No not the backyard kind!
The type worth riding a few hours to get to.

Then come join us on this Ride to Eat
. . . or meet us at Kundlas in Hamlin, PA.

This is going to be my start to Team Strange's Smoke Chasing AMA Grand Tour rides this summer.  May be you will be inspired to join this Ultimate Ridin' & BBQ Eatin' Grand Tour.
Be sure to sign up in advance at the Smoke Chasing Grand Tour site so you can get credit for this visit to Kundlas.

We'll be meeting at 9 AM at the McDonalds, on Route 17 South in Mahwah, NJ.  Sidestands will go up at 9:30 for a 3.5 hour ride of some of the best roads North Jersey and the Poconos have to offer on our way to a delicious lunch.  Official details & registration.

Click on the map below for a bigger map of the starting point.

A GPS route file will be available for download and route sheets will be provided to anyone who asks me in advance to bring one for them.  Hope to see you there.

Now please excuse me.  I have to go exercise  to lose 20 lbs before the ride so I can fit into my riding gear.  :(

I did a check drive of the route this past Saturday.  Here is a photo of one of the scenic spots we will be taking a break at along the route.

High Point (NJ) Monument.

I doubt that I would have been able to find the monument in the fog  if I didn't know in advance exactly where it was located.

Just a reminder for all you PA COGgers that you can always join us by treating this event as a Meet & Greet.  We should be arriving at Kundlas around 1:30 pm.

Btw, be sure to bring cash $$$ because Kundlas does not take plastic.

I suppose someone out there must be wondering where is Kundlas located so they could plan to meet us there.  Well Kundlas is across from the Weis Markets on PA-590 (a.k.a. Hamlin Hwy), 0.3 mile West of PA-191 & 196 in Hamlin, PA.  Click on the map below for a larger map of Kundlas location.

Hope to see you there and remember Kundlas is cash only, no plastic.

It is 1 AM and I've just finished putting the final touches on the GPS route files.  I'll be emailing them to Cap'n Bob who will probably have them available for you to download later today in the COG-online Members Library, GPS Files.  If you do the ride as I've laid it out you will be enjoying a full day of riding and some delicious Open Pit Barb-Q.  Kundlas is about 10 minutes from I-84 so anyone who wants to cut the day short can always jump on the slab to head home quickly.

Accuweather is calling for Variable Clouds with Passing Showers.  The National Weather Service says there is only a 30% chance of showers.  The first shower might possibly be at the very start of the day but the more likely time is in the late afternoon.  So it should be a good day for a ride.
