Title: Kwackers Extended Warranty
Post by: VirginiaJim on November 27, 2018, 09:33:40 AM
Where can I check the status of the extended warranty for the bike?  I have a document showing it expires in Aug of 2019 but I want to verify that.  Went to Kwackers US but don't see anything per se dealing with that.

Although I see no status thing with the link in that post.  More interesting, they don't even show the Concours AT ALL in their warranty listings.  Also interesting, of all those listed, only the 2018 Versys 1000LT has a warranty better than 12 months (24 months).

Could just call a dealer...

In any case, why would you expect the expiration to not coincide with your document?  Just nervous?

Sold the bike, Max, and need to transfer it over to the new owner.  The bike won't be going far away.  It's going to a good home and I'll still be able to ride with it on many occasions.

Quote from: Kawasaki Website
The new owner can “Update Customer Info” to notify KMC of the change in ownership. New owners are required to submit a copy of the product’s state registration or a bill of sale before our records can be updated. The paperwork can be uploaded electronically, faxed or sent via USPS. Once we receive the paperwork, KMC can transfer the remaining factory warranty or Kawasaki Protection Plus into the new owner’s name.

I'm not sure why they changed the name of their extended warranty from Good times Protection Plan to Kawasaki Protection Plus or if that has any effect on current in force plans.

There used to be a place to enter your VIN and get the warranty expiration date. All I can find now is where you enter the vin and it gives owner info and says there (in my case) no warranty extension plans available to me (I'm on my last one, second extension, which ends in March 2020 on my 2010 model purchased in 2011).

Probably won't, ......
The bike won't be going far away. .......and I'll still be able to ride with it on many occasions.

The new owner will get tired of waiting for the Indian to catch up and/or V'Jim will tire of riding alone or always way behind
and he'll get another C14.  ;)

silly,
call Pete Daniels, at Ultimate...

https://www.ultimatecycle.net/ (https://www.ultimatecycle.net/)

he's the guy I worked with for the reduced price on KPP...

he can run the numbers for ya, and you can purchase the plan on the phone at the same time... and he can also transfer the extension warranty when you sell it, for your friend...

tell him I personally said hi, and I'll try to get down there to see him next spring...

Let me know when you are going to be there and I’ll ride over and meet you. I’m only about 15 - 20 minutes away from Ultimate Cycles.

will do... having moved from Hanover, back up here to Ohio, it is kinda painful leaving the place... Va. that is... Pete is a great dealer, and we worked out a great deal years ago, to supply extension warranties at the lowest possible point, which has held on for many years now. In my opinion, he is at the top 5% of greatness, in the world of Kawasaki in America today... but, I'm partial to my friends..
Good people down there, Guy B Young a master and guru, and longtime COG Life member lives within minutes of you.

he is also retired, and does Bike work now, don't think he's had any experiences fixing a C14 yet, as when i lived there it was "my job"..and , well, so far C14's don't have problems (we just don't acknowledge them as such..) but none the less, a great resource, and knowledge bound man.. and he can always call me and ask "wtf is this?"

If it is some weekend day you do it, and I am free, I would join up too...

I found where to put in the vin and check the warranty status which states that it expired in 2016.   The paperwork says 2019 which has got me puzzled.   The only receipts I can get my hands on show that I re-upped in 2012 about a year before it lapsed.  The next time I'm in Pete's area I'll stop in and see what's up but I'm thinking it was typed in wrong.  I'm by that area all the time.

And no, not going back to sport tourers.  I've been riding this cruiser since early 2017 and I quite like the ergos, the sound, and everything else about it.  I was really thinking about getting away from riding totally until we got the Indian and I'm back in love with riding again.
