MZ motorcycles
« on: March 28, 2012, 02:24:50 PM »
Anyone ever hear of MZ? I was just at my dealer and they had a used MZ 1000S on the floor. Sharp! The tech said that only 30 or so have been imported to the USA.

Here's what it looked like.

Last time I went to visit my brother in Michigan there was a little dealer that had a brand new silver one that had 0 miles on it. But that is the only place I have seen one.

I sure loved my first real motorcycle...MZ ETZ 250. And believe it or not, it was equipped with 12 volt electrical system and front disc brakes!!!  ;)

MZs were neat bikes.  They made a few dirt/adventure bikes with Rotax motors.  The latest models used a 5-valve 660cc Yamaha single except for the parallel twin 1000 in the picture.

They had a supermoto model, an adv model, a naked model, and a faired "touring" model that used the Yamaha thumper.  Under the right rider they could be pretty quick in the canyons.

The singles should be easier to get parts for, at least from a motor standpoint.  The 1000, not so much.
