Damn! I just found out that my local Kawasaki dealer closed it's doors for good. That's the bad news.

The good news is that the tech they had, who is top notch in my book, has opened his own independent shop across from the HD dealer in town. I stopped by his shop to take a look at his operation. He purchased all of the old equipment from the Kaw shop when they went under and his shop looks to be first class. I'll be going there for my non-warranty work.

Spent last week in WA State riding in 45 degree rain (street class for the Special Forces Motorcycle Mentors), arrived in NC Sunday Morning to a hottish 80 degrees.  Today?  Muggy, 75ish, and then the rain started.  70 degrees and a real downpour complimented by lightning.  Stopped class early, which was a good call seeing as we are using the airstrip at Camp Mackall :o

Go figure, sun is shining in the PNW.

I bought a new razor this past weekend. A Merkur, made in Germany, old style safety razor, long handle, heavyweight, two piece. Should last a lifetime.

Which one? I have a couple of Merkurs but the adjustable Progress is my favorite.

The Merkur is on the left:

And that little gem on the right is a genuine Gillette Toggle Red Dot. They were the prototype adjustable razor, only made in one quarter of the year and only two years. The one shown happens to have been made in the same quarter and year (my 'birthyear' razor) as me :-)  A pretty rare razor, especially in that condition.

There has been a tremendous revival in the double edge safety razor industry lately. The prices for fairly common razors are really increasing and for rare razors they are getting downright insane. The joke among users and collectors is that wet shaving is going to save me money: I personally think I will be even sometime in the year 2689 or so.
