Bought a set off Ebay. The center insert doesn't even come close to going in. How much can I spread the bar apart?

You could always remove some of the metal from the inserts. I have the same ones, but not sure if I bought them from the same seller, but mine dropped right in. Don't forget a dab of thread lock on those little b*%^@%^ set screws that go in the side of the risers.

Bummer, I thought of ordering a set of these but not if there NO GOOD... anyone ELSE have these problems>>??
-
Gene, would u just grind em down??
Dan

There's no way should you have to mod the blocks.
If they don't fit, send em back and ask for another set or get a refund.

Depends how much would have to come off them, OP says they are not even close. Close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades where I come from, so it can mean anywhere from .001 to 3 miles depending who you are talking to. If he can take a slight amount off and use them, so be it.
-
Ya, I am going to take a belt sander to them.

Why? If they're advertised to fit the C-10 and don't, then they ain't right.
A bit like buying a wrench advertised as 1/2" and being sent a 3/8" one and having to machine it out :o
-
I agree. Before you grind, contact the seller......
Something doesn't sound right.
Dumb question, but did you loosen the pinch bolt??

I loosened the pinch bold and drove a screwdriver tip into the opening to spread it out more.
I was whacking it pretty good and got worried about breaking the handlebar.
The reason I am not sending it back is because it's not worth the hassle.

3 miles would probably be a little too much ;D

On a past purchase I made from Ebay I sent a seller a note with an explanation of a problem.
The seller replaced the bad part and told me he apologized for the problem. Told me not to send the old one back. Was decent about it.
Go ahead and grind, but try sending a note. Couldn't hurt.

I'll post a link tonight. I can't access Ebay at work.
I did contact the seller as many suggested. He sent out another set that has been partially machined down. I'll try them out tomorrow.

I have the same set on my '05. No problems. (after re-routing the choke cable.)

got mine off ebay. Had to loosen the 2 (each side) cap screws and tap aluminum "caps' in with the butt end of a hammer. they sit about 1/8 inch above flush. then tighten cap screws.

I didn't want to do any tapping as the riser might need to be removed to adjust forks if the inserts don't just slide out.
-
Yeah, I put the caps on and forgot I even had adjusters!
